This has been sitting in my drawer for 10 years & I had no interest in watching it b/c I saw it has 3% or something on Rotten Tomatoes & failed horribly at the box office.
Let me say the 1st one is amazing. Peak amazing.
Is the sequel anywhere near that? No. But it's good! I was entertained. I laughed. I was impressed w/ the visuals. The movie's fun. I'll give it a 4/5. It's good. Only point it loses from me is, unfortunately, it's not really a move I'd want to see again. It's 'I saw it, it was good, move on.'
It's better than 1/2 the movies that come out today which are all just corporate, factory-made products.
That reminds me. This movie isn't a rehash of the 1st one or full of repeat-jokes like a lot of sequels are. Which is how they almost exclusively make sequels today.
If you like Looney Tunes (which most of us do, let's be honest), go ahead & check this out. It's only an hour and a half.

4/5

Planet Hulk

The movie is almost non-stop action scenes. Not really my cup of tea. I prefer a mix of drama as well. The bonus features on the disk were really good tho. The movie itself I give a 3/5 & recommend it only if you’re a big Marvel fan, especially of the comics. But it’s nice seeing a Marvel movie take itself serious & isn’t all just jokes like current MCU.

Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers
Never had Toon Disney growing up so was never able to really watch the show other than a few times, but this was the 1st thing I wanted to watch on Disney+ & I wasn’t disappointed. The character references seem to number in the 800s! & they’re not member-berries w/ repeat lines. Most are blink-and-you-miss-it.
The movie definitely comes across as a spiritual successor to Roger Rabbit (fantastic movie btw). I think I’d have preferred a couple scenes similar to Roger Rabbit where past characters interact, but maybe it’s for the best they didn’t b/c it probably would’ve just been repeat lines; they can’t do it like they did when Roger Rabbit came out.
Cameos aside:
The voice for Chip was perfect!
Ugly Sonic is HILARIOUS! The movie is generally funny & entertaining.
The story is fast-paced. Hard for me to explain.
The only negatives I can think of there’s a couple Disney tropes older audiences have seen 1000 times. (Fake death, we’re-going-to-explain-the-message-to-you’, etc.)
People think I got Disney+ for Marvel & Star Wars, but the reality is, I want it to watch those Toon Disney shows! (DuckTales, Goof Troop, Talespin, etc.) & this was a great first watch!
I recommend this if you like Disney movies!

Rewatched Jurassic World Dominion this past weekend. W/ my friend b/c he wanted to watch it otherwise I’d have 0 interest in seeing it again.
I said when it came out: I love this franchise but this movie is terrible. I’m gonna give it an official rating: 3/5 (rest of the franchise I give 5/5). It’s lucky I didn’t give it a 2/5. I really don’t like it but 2/5 I save for really bad/boring.
I suppose there’s a couple parts I did like (I really like Owen, Claire, & Maisie. I liked the action scene in Malta w/ the black market & Raptors, I liked the Raptor that swam under the Ice) Everything else I don’t like.
Overall I don’t recommend this movie. Feels like whatever they were planning they scrapped to bring back old characters after Spider-Man’s success. It’s slow & meandering. What’s the point of bringing the dinosaurs to our world if you’re just gonna spend most of the movie in a valley where they’ve been moved to? The old characters just repeat lines from past movies & it feels really awkward everytime they’re on screen. & they get a LOT Of screen time.
We watched the Extended Cut.

3/5

Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Been wanting to see this since an ad for it was at the start of every VHS in the late 90s. Was gonna see it in theaters but then reviews were saying it’s not very good so never saw it.
So is it an underrated gem or is it as bad as the critics said?
It’s bad. It’s probably one of the worst Disney Cartoon Classics I’ve seen. It’s just boring. The first act is soooo slow. It picks up when they’re in the tunnels, discover Atlantis, & meet the princess, but the third act gets bad again when it turns into a Tarzan and/or Pochahontas rehash.
See Dreamworks’ The Road to El Dorado instead. Similar concept, but Dreamworks did it better.
I was bored outside from the second act. You've seen this before
3/5

Friend likes F1 racing, so I watched a lot of the Singapore Grand Prix. I’ve watched a few NASCAR races in the past, but this is my first time watching F1. The track is more interesting in F1, but it’s harder to tell who’s who. My friend says passing is harder in F1 b/c of all the curves, which makes the actual race less exciting. “You might as well watch qualifying because that’s gonna be the finish order of the actual race.” Most of the race was focused on Vanstreppen in the 8th – 5th range who had a chance to clinch the championship, but Perez who qualified 2nd won.

Colllege Football on Saturday.

TMNT: Out of the Shadows
I was bored. It’s just boring. Where was all the humor & fun action sequences from the first one? I liked the first one but this was a step back for sure.
3/5

I watched the recent episode of She-Hulk. My YouTuber’s really really really don’t like it. I liked it. I can see why they don’t like it, for example, for being a comedy, the jokes fall flat every single time. But I enjoyed it anyways.

Going to finish up Seven Samurai tonight. After that I'm going to try to watch other movies in the Akira Kurosawa filmography. Which I've never seen a single movie of.

One of my favorite horror films. I am a fan of what some call Cosmic Horror (AKA Lovecraftian horror)
Halloween, the original, is probably my favorite movie by John Carpenter.

I watched that one for the first time a couple weeks ago.

Going to finish up Seven Samurai tonight. After that I'm going to try to watch other movies in the Akira Kurosawa filmography. Which I've never seen a single movie of.
Oh, he is very good. I've only seen a half-dozen but they're very much worthwhile.

I'm watching Boris Karloff's Thriller.

I'm not too far in, so they're still along the lines of Alfred Hitchcock Presents (not a bad thing) and if I had any quibbles it's that Mr. Karloff's contrived intros are a bit silly.

Women's college soccer: Troy @ Georgia St. I have ties to Georgia so wanted GA St, but Troy won. For some reason, game was more entertaining then pro soccer. Seemed like they were actually trying to score rather than just pass it back every time they got it in deep.

A little bit of college football

An NHL game Ducks vs Islanders, it was a blowout.

A few episodes of Animaniacs reboot & old. Show's hilarious. Didn't like it as a kid. Had me LOLing now.

Hulk Vs 2009 movie. The Wolverine segment is really good. I'd give that a 5/5. The Thor segment isn't as good. It's just non-stop action & I get bored of that. Let's be honest, Thor just also isn't as interesting as Wolverine. I'd give the Thor segment a 3/5. So let's split it down the middle & give the whole feature a 4/5. I reccomend it if you're a Marvel comics fan.
Also I can see why fans don't like Professor Hulk in the MCU. This is what the Hulk should be like.
Also also, are the Warriors 3 from Thor always useless?
Also 3rd, time, I watched it on the BLu Ray combo. The Wolverine bonus features were better than the Thor ones.

Braves / Phillies MLB Playoffs. I have ties to Atlanta but Braves lost

Treasure Planet
So Disney had this & Atlantis in early 2000s. Both underperformed to mixed to negative reviews, tho both are now considered hidden gems. Earlier I watched Atlantis & confirmed it is indeed boring w/ nothing new to the table.
But Treasure Planet on the other hand, I really enjoyed. I decided to watch it, made it 5 minutes in, & debated for the next ½ hour if I really wanted to continue it. The concept seems strange. If you’re making Treasure Island, make Treasure Island, not some cartoony ripoff in space with uninsprising alien designs.
But I stuck w/ it & as the movie progressed, I liked it more & more. The action scenes are really good. The movie is gorgeous to look at. The characters are great, including the lead Jim, & John Silver is an underappreciated Disney character. He is the perfect gray character you’d want in a pirate. & is the true star of the show.
Only negatives I can think of is most of the alien designs are really bad.
So do yourself a favor & give this a shot. It really is a hidden gem. I recommend it if you like Disney movies and/or adventure movies (2 categories I’m a fan of)
I give this a 4/5

Wonder Woman (2009 animated movie)
This was really good. So far of all the DC animated movies I’ve seen, this one was probably my favorite. A superhero movie that’s a departure from a lot of the tropes, focusing on the Greek god myth, made it unique. It had a nice blend of action & drama, something I need in superhero movies. I get tired of superhero origin stories, & while this is one, it doesn’t feel like it b/c she’s already pretty developed.
Towards the middle, I started thinking ‘oh my gosh, this movie is going to get too feminist for me’, but then the male character goes on the attack for 30 seconds sharing everything is not designed to put women down & act like they’re inferior. The ‘lesson’ in the movie ended up being you need to have communication & have understanding, & that goes to both sides. That’s not something you see in today’s hyper-feminist movies AT ALL that try to put all men characters as buffoons & cowards who do everything they can to keep women down & it’s impossible for women to advance.
Anyways, messaging aside, I enjoyed this. We never really got a ton of Wonder Woman backstiry in the 90s Justice League cartoon show, so I was happy this really fleshed her out b/c I don’t know her backstory other than what the 90s series sped thru. All the side characters are great too: the queen, Alexus, Persephone, Ares, Hades, Artemis, etc.
I recommend this even if you’re not overly familiar w/ DC characters. I’m gonna go out on a limb & give this a 5/5.

More Animaniacs episodes

NHL Hockey

A little bit of college football

I started Justice League Unlimited. I’m only a few episodes in, but what a MASSIVE improvement from the original 90s JL series. I don’t know if they got the writers back from the Batman & Superman serieses or what, but JLU feels MUCH more like those in terms of quality.
