Since Thanksgiving is fast approaching for those of us who live in America, I thought that it might be edifying if we had a thread where we could tell of what we are thankful for and, in doing so, glorify God who is the giver of all good gifts. Post as often as you want-whenever you have something that you are especially thankful for and would like to share.

Right now, I'm thankful for the family that God has given me. I have two parents whom I respect and love, three sisters ages 14, 5, and 3, a brother age 12, and two wonderful maternal grandparents. I am also thankful that all of those listed (except for the two little girls, of course) are Calvinists and appear to be converted. Therefore, we have unity in this part of my family regarding religion. I have many cousins whom I love dearly (being Italian, it would take forever to list them all ;) ) a few Christian aunts and uncles, several non-Christian aunts and uncles, and two sets of unconverted grandparents on my father's side of the family. I love being part of a big family (even if there are no secrets:mad: !).

But, more than anything, I'm thankful that I've lasted this far, when doctors thought I wouldn't be born alive. :wink: , and when so many young people don't get the chance to live past their teenage years. And, most importantly, I'm thankful that God loved me so much that He gave His only-begotten Son to die so that I could live forever.

I am so thankful to our sweet Lord for all of His mercy and grace in my life!

For my church, my pastor who doesnt compromise truth but upholds its fullness!

For finding this forum and enjoying the new relationships in Christ it brings!

For a brand new great grandaughter, my first, her first! What a gorgeous little creature she is! Pray please that my grand daughter will come to trust God for salvation and that she and this new little one will glorify Him in their life!

I am most thankful for finding the doctrines of grace after so many years! Wonderful blessing and eye opening experience! How/why did I never know? All is in His timing and His ways are perfect!

I am thankful for a son who goes to third world countries, training their pastors who have minimal knowledge and training for the work they have a heart for! Today he goes to Kazakistan(sp?) Hold him in your prayers for the next 10 days for safety while there! He is in His care and work!

So much to be thankful for and express gratitude to Him, our Savior and Lord!

Blessings to each of you also! :clap:

I am thankful for 2 healthy boys, a wonderful, Godly husband who works hard so I don't have to, an opportunity again to own a house, God leading me to a church that preaches the truth uncompromised, and God leading me here to CF to learn the Doctrines of Grace.

I am thankful for a large family, and the fact that everyone is healthy and alive--it's amazing, really, there are 9 kids, and 24 grandkids and 4 greatgrandkids in our family and everyone is still around and healthy. God has been good to this family.....

As much as I hate to admit it, I'm thankful for the seasons, because as winter fast approaches Ohio, I know that I will appreciate spring and summer ever so much more when they arrive! :)

God's provision never fails. Once again, God has proved himself faithful for our family by providing a job for my husband after another lay off. God's timing is perfect. He is the Great Provider! He has been good to us. He sustains us through our dark hours, our challenges. He walks with us and provides the light for our steps.

I am really thankful that God helped me to get through my mid-terms. I finished the last of them yesterday. If only I can get through finals now. . .

Also thankful that I'll be spending Thanksgiving in New England with family-it's going to be great fun!

Sounds silly, but I am thankful for my new pacemaker with 3 threads!!!!

Now I can enjoy life to the fullest again!

That doesn't sound silly at all - sounds like common sense to me.

I'm thankful for my family - my husband, 2 children, daughter-in-law and 2 grandsons, my dad and his new(er) wife, my 3 sisters and their families. And even though they aren't blood relation - I'm thankful for my church family (who in a very real sense are my true family).

Above all other reasons to be thankful, it is God's absolute, all encompassing sovereignty which awakens our gratitude. His sovereignty is the source of everything we have to be thankful for, and by the sovereignty of Him who works all things after the counsel of His own will, we are assured not only of His victory in all things, but the victory also of everyone who with true reverence prays, "not my will O Lord, for I am but dust and ashes. Not my will. Let us live in the light of your wisdom and counsel displayed by the effectual working of your own will. And for our victory and gratitude, we have the assurance that it is your will which will be done. To thee belong all praise and glory.

My Pastor preached on this last week.

One of the points he made was that we only tend to thank God for what seems positive to us, but that ALL things come from the hand of God and we need be thankful for EVERYTHING (what we call good and what we see as negative)

He said the people of God of New Orleans need to thank God for the broken levee and the hurricane ,we need to thank Him for our lost jobs or illness because all things are for the glory of God and our good.

As we are promised He will work all things together for our good and His glory if we love Him and are called according to His purposes.

So I will thank him for the 40 pounds i have lost this year :)

I will thank him for my newest granddaughter .

But mostly I will thank him for humiliation and embarrassment I have had, and for the gift of repentance that they brought, for the lessons they taught and for the awareness of my sin.

May God be glorified in all things, for the breath we draw and for taking us when we draw our last.

congratulations!

Yea! Erin did really great with her test! That is quite an accomplishment! You are truly a girl on your way and God is blessing your life! Truly a special Thanksgiving for you, to celebrate such great things in New England with family! Wonderful occasion, banking memories!

God bless you Erin! His way, His guidance, His plan for your life will enrich you specially always!

Oh, give thanks to the Lord!
Call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the
peoples!
Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;
Talk of all His wondrous works!
Glory in His holy name
Let the hearts of those rejoice who
seek the Lord!
Seek the Lord and His strength;
Seek His face evermore!
Psalm 105: 1-4

Brothers and sisters: It does indeed sound like our God has blessed us with a multitude of profound and sacred reasons to render unto Him thanksgivings. To God be the glory!! Great things He has done!! "for of Him and through Him and to Him are all things: to whom be glory forever, Amen" (Rom. 11:36)

I am very thankful that I'm beginning to feel better. I ran out of allergy medicine late last week and was waiting until Friday's paycheck to get more. I knew that this wasn't good (according to the doctor, everything goes to my stomach and then. . .), but after a few days of feeling just stuffed up, I thought that I'd make it through. But then, in morning classes on Wednesday, I began to get sick. I sat there trying not to throw up or collapse. I did the same through the rest of my classes until I called my mom and asked her to meet me at the store so that I could get medicine. I was lucky to reach the store in one piece since I was extremly drowsy, queasy, and exhausted. Now, I have some medicine in me and I am beginning to improve.

I am also thankful that my internet is up and running again! We had a big storm last night and it took out the connection.

I'm sorry to hear you were feeling well, glad to hear you're feeling better now. Of course, if you lived in Australia, you would have free health-care, and wouldn't have to wait for your paycheck to get the medicine you need. ;) :D
