What part? The whole book?

What are you learning from it?
Whole book. I am learning that it is a very easy read and easy to understand.

Much different than many other people say. I just have to remind myself that Revelation is different than any other book of the Bible.

Do you read it as a series of chronological events once the scrolls start? I've often read and heard folks say that it flows in order so the scrolls before the trumpets and the trumpets before the bowls of wrath etc?

No. Just read it as the instructions indicate.

Read a bit... first chapter or three and think about what makes Revelation a singularly unique book of the Bible.

I would love to hear what you come up with.

Why is Revelation not like any other book of the Bible?

Yeah my theory is that the seals, the trumpets and the Bowls of Wrath all happen simultaneously, intermingled between each other. The seventh of each happen almost exactly at the same time. I view a specific phrase as a "key" of sorts to understanding the timeline.

From the throne came flashes of lightning, and rumblings, and peals of thunder. Revelation 4:5 (BSB)

Notice now,

When the Lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and they were given seven trumpets.
Then another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, along with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, rose up before God from the hand of the angel.
Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it to the earth; and there were peals of thunder, and rumblings, and flashes of lightning, and an earthquake. Revelation 8:1-5 (BSB)

Then the seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and loud voices called out in heaven:
“The kingdom of the world
has become the kingdom of our Lord
and of His Christ,
and He will reign forever and ever.”
And the twenty-four elders who sit on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God, saying:
“We give thanks to You, O Lord God Almighty,
the One who is and who was,
because You have taken Your great power
and have begun to reign.
The nations were enraged,
and Your wrath has come.
The time has come to judge the dead
and to reward Your servants the prophets,
as well as the saints and those who fear Your name,
both small and great—
and to destroy those who destroy the earth.”
Then the temple of God in heaven was opened, and the ark of His covenant appeared in His temple. And there were flashes of lightning, and rumblings, and peals of thunder, and an earthquake, and a great hailstorm. Revelation 11:15-19 (BSB)

Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came from the throne in the temple, saying, “It is done!”
And there were flashes of lightning, and rumblings, and peals of thunder, and a great earthquake Revelation 16:17-18 (BSB)

So it's possible that the seven seals are finished first, but I think the Trumpets and the Bowls of Wrath happen together. Notice at the 7th Trumpet and the 7th Bowl, there's an earthquake.

I think everything else mentioned in Revelations up to Revelation 19 is just descriptive details about certain events. From Revelation 19 onwards is the Battle of Armageddon and Judgement Day into Eternity.

Same events from different angles.
Severity of the earthquake could be understood as distance from epicenter.

Matthew yesterday - Mark today

Not a major revelation, but it was interesting to note that Jehoshaphat was in the lineage of Christ.
I suppose it would come as a shock to some to know the Jesus has Gentile heritage. That to me is a big shocker from His genealogy.

For some it might be a shock that the genealogy in Matthew has the correct amount of names.

That is not something I knew before, interesting. Luke's had a different purpose starting from creation, whereas Matthew started with Abraham

Where is that in His genealogy?
This is the record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham:
Abraham was the father of Isaac,
Isaac the father of Jacob,
and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers.
Judah was the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar,
Perez the father of Hezron,
and Hezron the father of Ram.
Ram was the father of Amminadab,
Amminadab the father of Nahshon,
and Nahshon the father of Salmon.
Salmon was the father of Boaz by Rahab,
Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth,
Obed the father of Jesse,
and Jesse the father of David the king.
Next:
David was the father of Solomon by Uriah’s wife,
Solomon the father of Rehoboam,
Rehoboam the father of Abijah,
and Abijah the father of Asa.
Asa was the father of Jehoshaphat,
Jehoshaphat the father of Joram,
and Joram the father of Uzziah.
Uzziah was the father of Jotham,
Jotham the father of Ahaz,
and Ahaz the father of Hezekiah.
Hezekiah was the father of Manasseh,
Manasseh the father of Amon,
Amon the father of Josiah,
and Josiah the father of Jeconiah and his brothers
at the time of the exile to Babylon.
After the exile to Babylon:
Jeconiah was the father of Shealtiel,
Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,
Zerubbabel the father of Abiud,
Abiud the father of Eliakim,
and Eliakim the father of Azor.
Azor was the father of Zadok,
Zadok the father of Achim,
and Achim the father of Eliud.
Eliud was the father of Eleazar,
Eleazar the father of Matthan,
Matthan the father of Jacob,
and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary,
of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. Matthew 1:1-16 (BSB)

"Of the women, two—Rahab and Ruth—were definitely Gentiles, and another, Tamar, was probably a Gentile as her name is not Israelitish. The fourth, Bathsheba, married a Gentile, Uriah the Hittite, and as a result, the Israelites may have considered her to be Gentile. These women in Christ's family tree make an interesting study all by themselves." (https://www.bibletools.org/index.cfm/fuseaction/Topical.show/RTD/cgg/ID/9169/Bathsheba.htm)

But as this is tracking Joseph's family line... I don't see where that is an issue.

A Jew is a Jew if their mother was a Jew.
So Gentiles in the fathers line would not impact the Jewishness of the offspring.

And I don't think you loose your Jewish nature when you marry outside the family lines.

This genealogy would be to solidify Jesus claim to the Davidic throne.

Ok, I said His heritage had Gentiles though. Perhaps I should have said His genealogy, it doesn't matter. This thread isn't for us to try and nit pick over words, if you want to do that, do it in another thread. This is a fellowship thread :)
