  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't know what kind of response this thread will get or if it will maybe qualify for a "sticky" but I thought it would be good to share what we are reading ?

I am currently reading:

Judgement and Promise: An Interpretation of the book of Jeremiah by J.G. McConville and

Covenant and Sacrifice in the Letter to the Hebrews by John Dunnill.

Hi,

Is it true that Baptists' believe that once saved always saved?

Kindly confirm and advise.
Thanks,

Tony

I read several things at the same time as well:

1.Unspeakable by Os Guiness
2. How to Read a Book by Mortimer Adler (oh, the irony!)
3. Knowing God by J.I. Packer
4. The Pleasures of God by John Piper
5. The Knowledge of the Holy by A.W. Tozer

All of these require much more attention than I have been giving them. I guess thats what Christmas break is for!

Hi everyone,

I've enjoyed browsing through the book titles which have been shared, and will place several on my 'to read' list. I'm new to the forum, but here are my current choices (as others have related, I'm rarely reading just one! ... excepting the first):

The Holy Bible
The Sacred Harp: A Tradition and Its Music (Buell E. Cobb, Jr.)
The Quest for the True Cross (C. P. Thiede and M. d'Acona)
Beverly Lewis' novels, set in Amish country
a little book on Ozark folklore

In Christ's love,
Elizabeth
