  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

HBO Rome tonight.

I do have to say the quality of writing in this show is quite high. There is a lot of subtle moments to enjoy, and the show often feels more grounded and real because of it. Thus far this is my favorite HBO series to watch, although this isn't to say the other shows are bad.

It also helps that I am fascinated with ancient Roman culture. How brutal and different it is compared to today. I just want to psychologically understand their points of view and what it can say about modern man. I feel like this show produces interesting questions.. unlike other more cheesy shows like Spartacus on Showtime. Which relied more of the gore and nudity factor which honestly I found way too much. I wish the show was more human.

I have to say though that Titus Pullo is my favorite character in this series. If he lived today he'd face multiple life sentences in prison.. but in the context of ancient Rome.. he's a funny and quirky guy.

This show does a good job at making Cleopatra alluring.

Still.. I heard on the History Channel once (although that might not be saying a lot) that there is some evidence she had a long roman nose and was not exactly good looking compared to modern standards.

Given evolution and whatnot.. a larger nose on a woman is less neotenous.. but that part of the world such noses are more common even among the women.. so eh. Personally I don't mind a woman not having a button nose.

I’ve seen many pretty women with all sorts of noses. How a woman carries her features can change many minds.

I love Roman noses on men generally. A lot of women are stunning with them as well.
