The Sabbath commandment is about rest for everyone, servant, master are alike, all must have a day of rest, and this is a moral imperative.
Deuteronomy 5: (12) 'Observe the sabbath day to keep it holy, as the LORD your God commanded you. (13) 'Six days you shall labor and do all your work, (14) but the seventh day is a sabbath of the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter or your male servant or your female servant or your ox or your donkey or any of your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you, so that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you. (15) 'You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out of there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the LORD your God commanded you to observe the sabbath day.
Yes, that was true under the Old Covenant, but under the New Covenant that law does not apply.
We are no longer under the OC, because Jesus died to free us from the OC and established the NC with us (Gal 5:1).

God is within us and if we work we are forcing Him to work on His day off, and we don't even pay overtime.
But the commandment is so that your servant may rest as well as you. God within you does not guarantee that your servant will get a day of rest.

Set us free, you say, but who will look after the interests of your servant? Who is going to ensure that the servants gat a day of rest, no more Sunday shopping and no more demanding that other people work so you can enjoy the fruit of their labour on your day off.

We seem to have gotten around that by the influx of other religions and people who don't follow the 7th day thing but need to work or be open.
The commandment requires everyone to rest regardless of religion.

Perhaps but the other religions are a tough sell and don't mind following their own ways on Sundays. We of course have the option of not supporting them on that day.

He said He came not to destroy it but to add to it... the kingdom
Wrong again, Tim. He did not come to "add to it". He came to fulfill it. What happens to a contract when all the requirements of both parties are completely fulfilled? It becomes void, because it no longer has any power; there is nothing for it to cause anyone to do. Jesus completely fulfilled the OT, and in doing so He made it void. Then He established a New Covenant, not a renewal of the Old, in His own blood. As Heb 8:13 says, when God talked about a New Covenant in Jeremiah 31, He made the OC obsolete, and what He had made obsolete was ready to disappear.

I have no servant. I myself am a servant of the Most High God. Jesus is my rest (Heb 4:10), and He will insure that all those that are His receive the rest into which He Himself entered. But the rest into which He entered is not the seventh day sabbath of the Old Covenant, because Heb 4:8 says that if the seventh day were the rest into which we long to enter, he would not have spoken of another day after that.

The commandment requires everyone to rest regardless of religion.
The commandments were given to the people of God.

The people of God now rest in Jesus' salvation rather than in their own works to save.

Hold your horses! The thread is about the ten commandments not about the sabbath commandment alone. Besides that, everybody has servants, they are the people who provide the infrastructure and services that you depend upon. And the commandment to rest is there to make sure that everybody gets rest, servants too, not just their masters.

Are you?

My works do not save me, I am already saved.

My works of obedience lead to sanctification (Ro 6:16, 19).

And he brought the Kingdom with Him, His only Gospel.
Yes, Tim, He brought the Kingdom with Him. But that does not negate the fact that He fulfilled the Old Covenant and removed it, replacing it with the New Covenant which is completely different than the Old.

Sure it is. And that is why, in my very first post, I said that all of the "ten commandments" are irrelevant to us today. The "ten commandments" as a group are part of the Old Covenant, and so are no longer binding on us today. But nine of the ten have been restated in the New Covenant as commands that the New Testament Christ follower must keep.
1) Do not worship any other gods (1 Corinthians 8:6; 1 Timothy 2:5)
2) Do not make idols (1 John 5:21)
3) Do not misuse the name of the Lord (1 Timothy 6:1)
4) Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy. (There are many references to the Sabbath day in the New Testament, including the assumption that Jews under the law in the time of Christ would be observing the Sabbath. But there is no direct or indirect command for believers in the church age to observe the Sabbath as a day of rest or of worship. In fact, Colossians 2:16 releases the believer from the Sabbath rule. Jesus, the Lord of the Sabbath, has become for us our Sabbath rest, according to Hebrews 4:1–11.)
5) Honor your father and your mother (Ephesians 6:1–2)
6) Do not murder (Romans 13:9; 1 Peter 4:15)
7) Do not commit adultery (1 Corinthians 6:9–10)
8) Do not steal (Ephesians 4:28)
9) Do not give false testimony (Revelation 21:8)
10) Do not covet (Colossians 3:5)
Besides that, everybody has servants, they are the people who provide the infrastructure and services that you depend upon. And the commandment to rest is there to make sure that everybody gets rest, servants too, not just their masters.
I see what you are getting at, but someone who owns a business, or who works for the government, who performs tasks for which I then pay them is not a "servant" except possibly in the loosest and most broad terms. A servant is, "a person who performs duties for others, especially a person employed in a house on domestic duties or as a personal attendant."

The New Covenant sabbath is not about rest from physical labor, but about spiritual rest. All of the NC is about the spiritual instead of the physical.
