  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What am I doing wrong?

It seems to me to be an issue of upkeeping your faith.

1) You need to attend a church, carefully choose one as it's a responsibility. You may start with attending only the Sunday services to listen to the sermons.
2) Biblical knowledge is synchronized through the churches (i.e., legitimate ones). You may need to study the Word of God together with other Christians in a church. God's Church on Earth (made of legitimate physical churches) holds a standard which is intangible though.
3) You may start with love which is the foundation of all commandments. Join a church to donate or contribute. Do you have a kid, do you harm him/her intendedly? Sins harm God, so every time you sin you are harming God in a way. Think of that as to harm your own little kids. It by no means says that you need to force yourself into legalism. It means when you sin (sometimes we have to), repent wholeheartedly by saying sorry to God, that sin sometimes it's out of our own control. As Paul put,

Romans 7:23-25
but I see in my members another law at war with the law of my mind, making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with my mind I am a slave to the law of God, but with my flesh I am a slave to the law of sin.

Improvement may come from increasing faith and increasing love.
