I'm confused as to what the ancestors of the land cow were. Is it the mesonychid, or is it a whale?

From what I can tell, mesonychids split up and a few of their descendents evolved into gradations of what would eventually become the whale, and the cow was a continuation of some other mesonychids.

If this is right, can anyone help me find gradations between the mesonychid and the modern day cow? I've got someone prodding me for "transitionary fossils".

AiG's article is laughable. A whales tail is just like most other mammals tail, an extension of a spine. AiG seems to be suggesting that a spine can't move up and down, which is pretty absurd. Sorry but the swatting motion of a cow doesn't give us much information about how the whale moved, let alone disprove whale evolution.

AiGs article is amazing poor and pointless for anyone who has ever seen a spine and bent down to pick something up and is able to connect the two thoughts.

The idea that whales came from cows is also laughable. Whales didn't come from cows but share a common ancestor with cows.
