Actually it is the Capital 'S'. There are 4 different S's in Greek:Thank you, sir!
Σ= Capital S
σ= small s used within a word but never at the end.
ς= small s used only at the end of a word.
c= same the Latin 'c'; it is used in Byzantine and Greek Orthodox church texts
