You're kidding! I don't Know that I've ever seen it. I have seen the light mothman at the lake.

Hello, I am from West Virginia and well I just moved back here myself. I am in Greenbrier County.

Hi I am in Greenbrier county also, Born and raised in summers county, was in NJ for several years just moved back into the area in 2003.

LOL, I used to get so agravated when I was in NJ, I told people time and time again that I was from WV and they almost always referred to it as Va.

I lived in Maine for a year. People there were honestly surprised that I wore shoes!

It is almost suprising to see how many people think that West Virginians do not wear shoes. Everytime I hear it, I sit appalled, thinking "you've got to be kidding"...

It's kinda funny to me, I remember when I was a kid my mother did go barefoot most of the time.

Yep me too, I used to hassle my mom and my oldest sister for going barefoot but they liked it, Mom would even go out to get fire wood in the middle of winter barefoot.

My husband always makes fun of me since it is said that WVians are always barefoot. I don't help the fact since I don't wear my shoes unless I have to. I am always outside barefoot.

Hey everyone. This is my first post. I live at the Harpers Ferry National Park. Lived here most of my life. My farm is in Pendleton Co however and my rentals are in Grant Co. West Virginia is the prettiest place in the US. My family lives in Shepherdstown. My family is originally, before I was born, from the Northern Neck of Va since 1642, but now we consider ourselves West Virginiains. I am looking for a new farm closer to Shepherdstown so I can check on my parents in the old age. Pendleton co, while beautiful and secluded is too far for convience.
I am going to add that I was getting wood off the back deck yesterday in my barefeet. I wasn't out there too long but....... what can I say.

When I read this in your post, it made me grit my teeth! There is no way I could even thinking about going outside this time of year without shoes!

I think maybe it is a girl thing, My mother and sister likes bare feet, myself and my brothers no way man. Only time I ever remember going out in the cold with bare feet was in an emergency when there was no other choice.

I agree the barefoot thing must be a woman thing. My dh goes to bed in July with socks on LOL. I hang my barefoot out of the covers now. And his family is Tennesee hillbillys. But his sisters will go barefoot.

I still have family in Mineral and Grant Counties - my mother, brother and his family in Mineral and my sister and her family just moved from Keyser to Petersburg. My husband's mother and sister still live in Petersburg. We love to go back to visit but Jackson Co. is now home to us. We've lived here 12 years now so it is really the only home my sons remember.

Y'all are gonna love this one. Last night, our church went Christmast caroling and at the second stop, there lived an elderly lady, 80 yo maybe. She must have been expecting us later cause we caught her cleaning. ANyways, she came out on the porch in her dress, apron and BAREFEET. She stood out there the whole time that we sang, 4 songs, and it didn't seem to affect her. I about fell over cause it was in the upper 20's. I was all bundled up and I was still cold
