• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Wendy Wright has been programed not to think she can only spout the creationist line, ask her questions and she will reply with the same things over and over again, she does not do thinking because creationists are repeaters not thinkers.

Most religious people are repeaters not thinkers, for obvious reasons.

I believe he made his judgment of character after viewing the video.

It is a generalization, though. And although I suspect that most thinking creationists (who look into the matter) are not creationists for very long, there are thinking creationists.

R U prejudice against creationists?

PREjudice

–noun 1. an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason.

it seems we need an opposite word here, one that would mean the same as POSTjudice.

We had no opinions about creationists before knowledge, thought and reason came into it.

Psychology has an explanation for someone like Wright, who will stand her ground, no matter how much objective evidence is available to demolish her stance.

Can she truly be that ignorant? For her sake, I hope not.

I call this type of behavior "Joe Paterno" syndrome. When some people have placed themselves so firmly in one camp and there are other political forces in play, they will assemble every defense mechanism in the mind to rationalize with themselves. Thankfully, there are enough people in this world that eventually can face the truth, even if they have to admit they were wrong and this is what helps to keep moving a society forward.

Winston Churchil once said:

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.

People like this woman are bad representatives of Christianity,
How about we let God be the judge of that, eh?
... and just serve to give people like Dawkins more reasons to hate it.
I have a feeling Dawkins doesn't need any more reasons to hate it.

Want to see something interesting?

Google Charles Darwin, then google P.T. Barnum -- they lived during the same years.

I wonder if they had a business relationship with each other?
No, they did not. It is idiotic to assume they did. But par for the course, Mr. LFC.

...one man claims that a compass needle moves as a result of magnetic fields, another can says it's the wind, a visiblist can say it's a future visible cause.

I don't see this as a debate among scientists. Comparing debates involving various hypotheses to 38,000 denominations conflicted on the one true interpretation of one religion is like comparing apples to mouthwash.
