  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't think about it often but when I do I think a lot LOL. Right now I'm going through a phase where I do. I somehow managed to gain 6kg during my one-month vacation and now that I think of it, it's quite obvious that the gain is visible on my stomach. :o So I'm for the first time in my life seriously trying to loose weight - I dislike the idea of ever becoming fat (eww).

Never happy with mine. Dieting now trying to lose 27.50 more pounds. I am praying that it works this time and I don't gain any back so I can concentrate my energy somewhere else besides my weight! Really sick of dieting and I REALLY hate being fat so....now when I have a craving I ask myself "do you want to eat that and be fat? or not eat and be thin?" So far, I choose be thin lol. Not there yet though!

Sweet! Congrats. :D

I've lost 65 since last January. I still have more to lose.

Thats awesome! It's a great feeling and it only gets better overtime. Plus with the summer coming up, losing this weight would only make going to the beach a lot better :)

Constantly. I have a fantasy ideal (88lbs/6stish), a more achievable ideal (111lbs/7st9lbs) and a normal ideal (130lbs/9stish). However to get to that I need to shed a considerable amount (60lbs/4stish) but it's all doable. Before stopping the exercise/watching what I ate I weighed 140lbs/10st which was perfectly healthy for my height but I want to weigh less, now that i've gained such a lot of weight I want to make sure I never slack off again regardless of the reasons.

Some people look wonderful at heavier weights as they carry it well, i'm not one of them. My body shape is not particularly curvy so extra weight just doesn't sit right, boy shapes should be lean not doughy ^_^

Totally! I want to lose another 50lbs by summer. Since I've been going to the gym regularly, my weight has been going up, then back down. I'd rather it go down, and then way down. :p

I can't give up though, the number on the scale is just a number. I feel stronger and healthier and that's the important part.

Are you happy with yours?

How often do you think about it?

-

I don't have a scale so I don't really know how much I weigh. I'm more concerned with how I feel than my weight. I like to be in shape and if I get tired/winded from walking up a few flights of stairs I know I need to work out more.

I think "dieting" is doomed to eventual failure. The concept brings to mind something that is a temporary fix. New ways of living and eating that one seeks to *keep* are more lasting and give longer lasting results.

When old eating habits surface - instead of thinking of the weight I will gain, I make the effort to think of a healthy replacement. For instance, just yesterday, even though I had breakfast before a work out...a few hours later I was in town and hungry again. I thought of getting perhaps a hamburger at a fast food place - but instead reminded myself of a yummy salad recipe filled with seeds and nuts and good stuff with yummy dressing I could make at home. With that replacement in mind, that is what I did when I got home.

Food *replacement works alot better than food denial. :)

You're right, diets are terrible and never work for very long. Being healthy is a way of life and requires a lot of time and effort to maintain. It gets easier with practice, though.

One thing that everyone can do to significantly reduce their calorie intake is to cut out all sweetened drinks. Sweetened drinks are strongly correlated to weight gain and are the first thing a person should discontinue if they're looking to control their weight. Cutting out soft drinks also helps prevent tooth decay and reduces the rate at which you lose bone density.

I have body dismorphic disorder - or whatever it's called...so, even when I am in my best shape, I still think I look fat. :sorry:

I'm overweight right now, but I'm working on getting rid of the extra weight. Although, I've learned to be happy with myself at any weight and just try to find clothes that flatter my figure. I'm lucky that I'm curvy, so I don't gain weight all in one spot on my body - rather, I gain it all over.

I wish I could be slim to be honest. Seems like that is not my natural weight though.

I will never be slim - God just didn't design my body that way. :) It's easy to look at a different body type (especially one that is more appealing to our own eye) and wish we had it. But, I remind myself that if I had X body type, then I would probably dread something else about myself. lol

I have an athletic/curvy frame and I'm tall, so I'm a "big" girl. I will never be dainty or petite...as much as I would love that some days. But, I'm learning to love the body I'm in, which makes me a much happier/confident person. :)
