I think "dieting" is doomed to eventual failure. The concept brings to mind something that is a temporary fix. New ways of living and eating that one seeks to *keep* are more lasting and give longer lasting results.
When old eating habits surface - instead of thinking of the weight I will gain, I make the effort to think of a healthy replacement. For instance, just yesterday, even though I had breakfast before a work out...a few hours later I was in town and hungry again. I thought of getting perhaps a hamburger at a fast food place - but instead reminded myself of a yummy salad recipe filled with seeds and nuts and good stuff with yummy dressing I could make at home. With that replacement in mind, that is what I did when I got home.
Food *replacement works alot better than food denial.![]()
Well some things I have given up "for now" like chocolate. I will never give it up forever I don't care. But I have quit drinking diet soda cuz when I drink it I I don't feel like having fruit like apples. So I AM changing my "lifestyle" but some things are only temporary to get the weight off. So far I have lost 11.5 pounds in 25 days and I can fit into the pants I was wearing before I went on my cruise last June. Mostly cutting out bad starches and all sugar, but I'm not doing it forever.

. But when I quit drinking diet soda it was easier to get off the sugar. Once in awhile I feel like something sweet, but then I ask myself "do you want to eat that and be fat? or keep getting thinner?" Thinner is winning so far lol. It's really nice not to have cravings. I used to be able to down 9-10 cookies with no problemo and I ate chocolate every day. So I'm feeling pretty darn good I'm not doing THAT anymore.
