I guess it's my turn.
My engagement ring is going to be $899.00, it's being paid for... and I haven't officially received it or anything, and he will ask my mother first.
We hope to get married in April if all goes well.

If I'd had my say and government bureaucracies and family preferences hadn't been an issue, we would've married in the spring, in a field of wildflowers, with just us and the preacher. I honesty don't remember. My husband designed the ring himself, but we used stones we already had from jewelry that had meaning to us but that we would not ever wear again. I have no idea what the cost turned out to be, or what it would have been if we hadn't already had the diamonds. It doesn't matter to me if it was $50 or $5,000.

There's quite a bit I would have liked to have been different, but none of it was in our control. All in all, based on our circumstances, it was as perfect as it could have been, so under the same circumstances I would not have changed anything.

No, Orthodox weddings take place inside the Church and there's no room for compromise so weather just isn't a factor.

Nothing on the actual engagement ring. It was his moms from her first marriage. He did get me a promise ring for $50 from Ebay that I LOVE!

Met the end of June. Started dating in August. Engaged end of November. So we only knew each other 5 months. 3 of which we were dating.

Just over 1 month.

New Year. (Ok, so the courthouse was closed and we had to go in January 2nd. Close enough.)

Would you change anything?
Yes. I had always dreamed of a huge tradiational wedding. Even had most of it planned out in high school except for who I was going to marry... One reason why I would like to renew vows for our 10th anniversary. That way my family and friends can be involved.

I don't live in the US.

Redguard, don't worry about. You would be surprised how many people from the US ask me if North Dakota is in Canada. (Second question asked when people find out that's where I was raised. First question is "Isn't it always cold there?") So be proud your a Canuck! (I've got quite a few friends from up there, and actually have family up there that I have never met before. So I have nothing against Canada.)

How long were you together before being engaged? Umm...it was more of an agreement. This was before I came back to Christ, and I got pregnant. So we decided to get married. We were together about 9 months when I got pregnant. Not an ideal situation, I know, but we are very happy, and we have been married almost 10 years.

How long were you engaged? About a year. We waited until after the baby was born to get married so we could have a wedding.

Would you change anything? I wish we had done things more "officially", I guess, but as far as reality is, I wouldn't change a thing. I have a wonderful husband and family, and I thank God every day for these blessings.
