• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've heard from tons of people, books, etc...that when you "think" you're hungry, or when you get dry/cottonmouth, you're actually "thirsty", and that you should pound the water. Well I try to do that, and try to chug tons of water for general purpose, but I'm still always hungry, and not satisfied by all of the water. I love water, so it's not something I'll be giving up, but just looking for any advice. I'm 6'7", 300lbs. I sit at a desk, doing fun IT stuff all day. I bought an elliptical (sp?) machine at home, and spluged on it, so I pray that helps, because I like to get on there, but what else can I do to curb my appetite? I don't really like vegetables, and the fat free/low fat foods are NASTY from what I've had. Sorry this is a bunch of jarbled thoughts, but I just needed to reach out somewhere. I've prayed about it for years, but don't feel pushed/pulled into any direction with this.

I understand what you are talking about. How often and how long do you do the elliptical? The more you use it, you will get the endorphins going in your brain and that should help suppress the appetite a little.

Second, what kind of diet are you trying to follow? I have been put on a diabetic diet, which means smaller meals, but more of them. Healthy snacks, like fruit, cheese and crackers, peanut butter on celery, stuff like that between normal meal times, but those meals are smaller. I also use healthy diet shakes between meals, I get them from my chiropractor.

Keep trying. It will get better.

 hello! the water trick is suppose to be with a snack. or right before a meal. in the inbetween times if water doesn't help, perhaps tea, or juice?

i know people who are disabled and can't physically excersize. there is a way you can get your heart rate up, and potentially help calories burn right there at your desk with breathing. breathing in very deeply through your nose, and out through your mouth. i'm not sure of the time pattern, but i have tried it. it makes you feel good. also, taking walks at your breaks and before you eat your lunch may help alot. :prayer: i pray that you see the lovely, handsome man, that God created. so you can enjoy food, enjoy yourself, and feel comforable with who you are.

if you can join a gym or YMCA, swimming is the best form of excerize.
