Acts 2:38. Then Peter said unto them; Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins

The reason to be Baptize is to manifest the burial of the ‘old man’ and to rise with Christ in a new life. This is the first manifestation that we as Christians have to do. A manifestation is the language between two worlds the natural and the spiritual. With the performing of the manifestation in the natural world, we communicate into the spiritual world – saying that we are prepared to die to self and to rise to a new life in Christ. Your soul (flesh) will still be very alive after the baptism, but the process to let it die, starts.

Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. We need to be immerging in water ONCE – IN THE NAME OF JESUS. Neither God nor the Holy Spirit died for our sins and with being immerged in water, we symbolized that we are one with His death on the cross and one in His resurrection. We are followers of Jesus Christ and He was not baptized as a baby but as and adult. It’s not the right baptism to be baptized as a baby. You need someone to baptize you like John the Baptist baptized Jesus, this is our example. Nowhere in the bible is there any babies baptized.

Matthew 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

The dove speaks of the Holy Spirit that is our ‘free gift’ after being baptized.

To be baptized is a step of obedience, and it’s to walk the scriptures. Many people cling unto some church believes or their parents tradition and will be lost forever because of this wrong believes. We all have an obligation to seek the truth for ourselves.

Here are my thoughts:

I don't believe in baby baptism. I believe that in order to be baptized, one needs to have made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ, and babies can't do that.

I believe in baptism by immersion because this is how Jesus was baptized.

I've heard of people being baptized in the name of Jesus, AND I've heard of people being baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Both are scriptural.

Matthew 28
19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[1] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

I don't think there's any need to get hung up on whether you're getting baptized in just Jesus' name or Father, Son and Holy Spirit's name....both ways are scriptural, and what matters most is the changed heart of the person being baptized.

Baptism is a wonderful step of obedience to God, but baptism is not what gets us to heaven. The thief on the cross only expressed his belief in Jesus, and WAS NOT baptised, and Jesus said:

Luke 23:43
Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."
(Whole Chapter: Luke 23 In context: Luke 23:42-44)

You mean like which is correct: sprinkling or immersion?

I'd go with immersion becos baptism is the Greek baptizo -- which means to soak something into a liquid (until there is a change). eg a pickle in vinegar until the pickle is fermented.

water baptism also carries with it the idea of death burial and resurrection, so again, an immersion idea.

that's just my opinion, dont want to be legalistic abt it.

Spirit baptism does not have to come after water baptism. as in Cornelius' case, they were saved and Spirit baptised (spoke in tongues) first, then water baptised. there is no fixed order (except that salvation/being born-again always comes first as the pre-requisite) and no fixed time gaps.
