Surprised this one hadn't come up yet.

What do people think of it?

I saw the trailers when I saw Dark Knight - that got me reading the comic book, which got me really excited for the film. I think given how detailed the book is, they did a pretty good job bringing it to the screen despite that. I also think it was pretty well cast.

i'll probably see it next weekend. loved the graphic novel, but have low expectations for the film.

I don't know. Alot of these marvel films coming out,am worn down by them so i won't be seeing this one until a year or so from now. Unless it gets amazing reviews.

I went to the midnight show.

I've yet to read the Graphic Novel, but my friend who I went with read it, and was able to fill me in a bit prior to the movie.

I really enjoyed the movie, even though I haven't read the novel. I'll definitely be picking it up sometime in the near future.

It had awesome fight sequences, some of the best I've seen in a while, then again, I'm not big on action films, but they were fun nonetheless. Awesome soundtrack, nice visuals, it was just an all-around fun movie.

I haven't read the graphic novel, but I genuinely liked the film. I liked the interesting perspective it gave on the idea of flawed human beings being the super hero, and the relationship of powers and humanity. A thought provoking super hero movie, I like that! A great soundtrack also helps . . .

I agree, but I'm not huuuugely sold on the soundtrack, all of it seemed a little too...obvious, I guess. Then again, the graphic novel chapters usually ended with a song lyric, but then I don't see why they couldn't have used those instead of the ones they did. Think "Unforgettable" was in the graphic novel.

I'm also exceedingly annoyed "The End of the Beginning of the End" by Smashing Pumpkins wasn't in the actual movie, just the trailer.

As a huge fan of the graphic novel, I loved the movie.

The ending was cleaner than the novel.

The casting was great, even the choices I thought were wrong prior to seeing the movie worked quite well in the movie. The stills of Ozy looked terrible in the marketing material shots I had seen, but he did a great job and sold me on the part. I had always heard the voice of Dr. Manhattan as much deeper and stentorian when reading the comic, but the softer, more human tone used in the movie carried a depth of emotional range that would have been impossible to convey with a more inhuman voice.

The one thing that irked me was the lack of "Who Watches the Watchmen" in the background and the naming of the second 'super group' as the Watchmen. I understand why they did it, but the purist in me rebels.

Well for me it was more that I liked many of the songs beforehand, so it was enjoyable to me to hear so many favorites.

I'd like to point out something that really made me mad. People acted like they never saw a penis before this film. Every time Manhattan was on the screen, some immature person would laugh. Was anyone else thoroughly aggravated by the immaturity of their audience?

As a big fan of the novel, I thought it was really well done. The changing of the ending kinda irked me at first, but the key thing was that they got it to work and still carry the same theme as in the novel. And is it me or was Jackie Earl Haley absolutely spot-on as Rorschach? IMO, he made the movie.

Manhattan always was nude. Why would someone whose like that bother wearing clothes anyways?

If the violence and sex (which was all over the place in the graphic novel) had been cut out of the movie, I imagine people would have flipped (not saying I disagree with you). I saw the movie today, I enjoyed it. What bothered me were the parents who brought their kids to the movie. Sure it has costumed fighters, but it was based on a graphic novel. It’s like saying "It" was marketed for children because it had a clown.

EXCELLENT portrayal of Rorschach by Mr. Haley.

I have to admit I chuckled the first time I saw Dr. Manhattan- don’t recall the detail of the novel. It wasn’t funny per say, but that was my first reaction.

I dunno, I kinda thought Jackie Earl Haley was a bit too old for Rorshach, in fact he seemed to be the only character they cast with an actor who seemed older than the part required - but it's testament to how awesome he is that it really didn't make that much of a difference. With characters like Silk Spectre I it fell a lot more flat, but I guess they thought it was more important that they were played by the same person, even if she didn't look as old as she was supposed to in the 60s.

As for the sex/nudity, that's pretty much out of the novel, scene for scene, so that's not a problem with the film inherently. Oh Alan Moore. Although I don't think it was quite so necessary for there to be THAT MANY compound fractures in one film

And most definitely NOT a kid's film!

My husband and I went to see it last night. He's read the graphic novel, I haven't... I absolutely loved it! He fell asleep a couple of times (I dunno how, we saw it in IMAX which, given the lack of people in the theatre to absorb sound, was a lot louder than a normal theatre LOL). He still liked it though, and said that most of the characters looked exactly like they did in the novel.

I want to see it again, though I don't think I'll ever be able to get it on DVD 'cuz having seen it in IMAX has totally ruined it for me in all other formats LOL

Thankfully there were no kids in our showing, or if there were, they were extremely mature and didn't laugh at the nudity or scream at the blood, etc. etc.

surprisingly enough, that didn't bother me, because I expected it... I knew Dr. Manhattan was nude from the beginning.

I've never read the original Watchmen graphic novel, but I enjoyed it.

My only complaint was the song choices. Like Cabal, I thought they were too obvious.

Oh, that's right, and you do NOT put Hallelujah on for that last sex scene!

HUGELY inappropriate song, though that didn't stop me from lol'ing at the flamethrower.

That's what I liked about it, too, not to mention it showed that the presence of super heroes still wouldn't necessarily make the world a better place.
