Hey everyone, as you can probably tell by my "newbie" status, I'm pretty new here but am eager to help give and share advice with fellow Christians.
This request I have for anyone who reads this thread is this: That you watch a sermon video (which I will provide the link for)
Here is why I ask this: My church is currently going through a somewhat uncertain time, we havent had an official senior pastor for well over a year, so two separate pastors switch off Sundays. Now, both of these men are great and can really give good sermons. HOWEVER, without a senior pastor the church nonetheless lacks leadership and unity. Much of the church body feels very disjointed to me, to the point where some of our christian friends and entire families have been leaving to go to look for other churches.
My parents are even considering possibly switcing churches.
This past week, God answered our church's prayers when a new senior pastor was voted upon and approved by the church elders and church members.
His name is Andrew and he has posted some of his sermon videos on a website called Vimeo.
My request to you is this: watch one of his videos and after watching this video, do your best to answer two questions.
1. What do you think of his speaking style and his sermons? Qualities such as consistency, humor and encouraging attitude are all obviously good things to note. Alternatively, things such as inconsistency, tendency to get off topic and discouraging words (such as excessive condemnation) are negative things to note. I will currently withhold my opinion of him for now until people start (hopefully) replying.
2. What do you think of the specific message he preached in this sermon video and do you think you understand it? My faith is still a very fragile thing at this point in my walk, and this video confrused me to such a degree that it temporarily rocked my faith to the very core of its foundation and made me question much of what it means to be a Christian and the issue of Salvation.
HERE IS THE VIDEO ITSELF:
Justify Never Sinned- Part One on Vimeo
If you have the time, try to watch it all in one sitting and feel free to take any notes to keep track of your thoughts.
THANK YOU so much to anyone who watches and replies, I'll try to check this thread regularly for replies.
