How do you explain a vision? By using symbols for emotional constructs that can't be explained otherwise.
Take the tree of knowlege as an example. What does it stand for? For appels that make you smart?
There is much more behind that mataphor.

A vision is God showing you the future, The tree of life is a tree, it is also quoted in other scripture supporting to be a tree.

You are here poking sticks of no understanding to Christians who have read the whole bible back and forth many many times.

I do not believe in Annihilation as this is a false teaching. Eternal punishment is what Jesus says (Matthew 25:46), and that what it will be. But as to its actual form, we cannot be sure. We read in the Gospels that people will be "beaten with many and few stripes" (Luke 24:47-48). And in Luke 10:14, Jesus says, "But it will be more bearable in the judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you".

"no, it does not matter", are you suggesting that the accounts in the Bible of hell, do not matter? How does one know what hell, or heaven is like, if we do not examine carefully what the Bible says on it? Everything in the Bible MATTERS!

So basically then, when people try to describe heaven they have no idea what they're talking about. I'm the type that looks at brochures before I decide to go anywhere, I read reviews and take advice from people who have been to the destination that I'm considering, and that's just for a two week holiday.
I would really need more detail about somewhere that I could be stuck in for eternity, call me old fashioned and all that jazz.

Christianity is not a religion, but a Faith in the Living God of the Holy Bible, Who is the ONLY God there is in the entire universe. The Bible tells us, that God resides in Heaven, as we see from the Lord's Prayer, "Our Father, Who is in Heaven..." (Matthew 6:9). For those who have had their sins forgiven by the Lord God, and washed away in the Precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, and indwelt by God the Holy Spirit, and actually belong to the Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Where They are, ALL true believers want to be! It is that simple. The verse I quoted from 1 Corinthians in the New Testament, is sufficient to give perfect peace and assurance on what Heaven will be like. We MUST take God at His Word. In the Apostle Paul's Letter to the Church at Philippi, he wrote, "My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better." (chapter 1, verse 23)

That is ALL that we need!

I'm not scared of death. I would prefer a permanent end to my existence, rather than a pointless eternal existence with no escape.

you are very mistaken not to be afraid of death, and the after life for those who are not born-again Christians. Whether you believe it or not, there is a real hell, where real people will end up in, and there will be real suffering for those who are not in heaven. One of the biggest LIES of the devil is, to tell the world that he does not exist, and there is no punishment for the wicked lost. The biggest LIE being, that there is no God!

What I believe is not really relevant here. You have your god I have mine. But the bible is full of intellectual background that carries a lot of information. It's not just an apple tree and it's not just a lake of fire. But if you don't want to go deeper into this, t's fine.

Problem is, apart from some ancient scribblings, there is absolutely no evidence for any of the following: God, the devil, angels, heaven, hell, souls, so I have absolutely no reason to fear death, fearing death because of the possibility of hell would be like fearing sleep because of Fred Kruger.
