  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I agree with war when the enemy is clearly in the wrong. World War two is the most obvious example. Hitler and his army were clearly in the wrong. So war was the right direction to go. Vietnam, on the other hand, turned right and wrong into a matter of political opinion, it isn't good policy to go to war when the public questions the morality of the fight. The Iraq war is questionable in purpose, because the reasons for starting the war are so mixed up. But Saddam Hussein needed to go. I support our troops all the way. And I hope Iraq can get up on its own two feet again.

All evils have a purpose. Without purpose they would not exist. I find it best to think of it like an equation where both sides must be equal. For example:

War (1) + Death (1) = Peace (1) + Life (1)

Without war, the system would be out of balance and there could be no peace. Without death, there could be no life. It's important to note that these are potentials. It does not mean they actually have to happen. But unfortunately there is an equal chance of both oppositte potentials becoming a reality. If there is a 50% chance that the potential for peace will be realized, then there is also a 50% chance that the potential for war will be realized.

1. The Iraqi war was justified by lies, the liers should be jailed however instead they were re-elected to lead this country. I believe History will judge this generation harshly.

2. The soldiers who serve this country should be supported 100% despite the fact that this war should never have happened, they are obliged to serve this country regardless of it's leadership and thier sacrifice should never be forgotten.

3. We are now obligated to restore peace and security to Iraq no matter how much it costs us, as soon as things are under control we should make a complete withdrawl.

I'm afraid I'll have to disagree with you on that, I think we'll have the situation under control in 3-5 years and another 300 billion or so....

Unfortunately for Iraq, their country is turning into another vietnam. Already we are undergoing "Iraqization". Just like Vietnam, the "insurgents" are going to take the country over when we eventually leave.

As to war or it's justification, etc. , it's clear to me personally that modern nations have been struggling for material resources and power and will resort to subterfuge and open war to achieve objectives...

Nations stockpile vast weapons, tax their citizens unmercifully to maintain and develope weapons and art the same time "talk" peace ...

Politicians, large corporations dedicated to large government contracts and oil companies have a vested interest in keeping things "hot" or at least "warm" when it comes to war...

At the same time international law as an institution has become stronger and world opinion and alliances have developed that can mitigate against war.

The Revelation of Baha'u'llah proposed over a hundred years counselled the world rulers and governments to build foundations for a world government and a world court. We're beginning to see the importance of this but it's taken a long time and much is left to be done to accomplish world peace and justice.

Baha'is are non-partisan and are loyal to duly constituted governments ... We request non-combatant roles if drafted.

"Jihad" has been abrogated by Baha'u'llah. It's still too easy for governments to justify war as a policy self interest and claims of being defensive through preemptive strikes, so what we need is stronger international law and a world government.

"God's purpose in sending His Prophets unto men is twofold.

The first is to liberate the children of men from the darkness of ignorance, and guide them to the light of true understanding.

The second is to ensure the peace and tranquillity of mankind, and provide all the means by which they can be established.

And does following Allah require that one not follow Mohammed? The point I'm trying to get at is that Saint Augustine's writings are seen as commentary on the teachings of Jesus and the apostles. Augustine gets a few things wrong, but his writings are still useful for gaining insight into the Scriptures.

For some reason I knew you are going to use what I wrote but Let me tell you this by doing so you are setting aside "Father"

I follow my Rabb and Rasools who are appointed by my Rabb, where as you are following Jesus and Saints (some saints have never existed during the life time of Jesus)

I am sorry did you say "useful"

(Me so confused - shouldn't it be authentic based on what Jesus said and done)

So should we go retrieve conquered lands of ancient Christianity? That would be kicking a lot muslims Turks and arabs out of their houses.
I'm up for it, A Turkish Muslim family is living illegally in my family's ancestral home in Kyrenia, they burnt down the Churches, they kicked and humiliated and killed the Orthodox priests, they even urinated on the ceremonial crosses inside the church in Kyrenia - Whatsmore they decimated entire Christian Graveyards by knocking all the headstones down.

I know I am supposed to forgive, but for me, forgiveness will come AFTER Constantinopoli is back in our hands with the Hagia Sophia turned back into it's rightful place as a Glorious Church as is the whole of Thrace and the Armenians, Kurds, Bulgarians, Russians, Serbians and we Greeks have exacted our revenge.

The simple fact for me is, why should I? Why should I forgive people who show such disgusting traits. I say it now, I do not forgive what they did to us, I do not forgive for Ottoman Massacres with which so many muslims remember with pride or deny (armenian holocaust). I DO NOT FORGIVE!

It's your personal thing, certainly I do not care when you forgive or choose not to forgive but I am asking would you still be the follower of Jesus?

Did this done and said by Jesus?

Yes, Christ taught complete peace, but what is important to note is that Constantinopoli is a Christian city that was taken and that all of Turkey and the Balkans are practically Greek and Serbian. Why do you think Serbia invaded Kosvo? BECAUSE IT IS SERBIAN LAND! AND THE KLA WERE MURDERING CHRISTIANS TIME AFTER TIME! Look at Bosnia, 40,000 Bosnian Muslims signed up to join SS and murdered tens of thousands of serb freedom fighters against Nazis.

Same with Greece. You occupy our land. We want it back because it was taken unjust way.

Look at Indonesia, When the Christians rose up and wanted their own state in Maluku. The Muslims murdered tens of thousands of THEM with the help of LASKAR JIHAD (THEY WANTED HOLY WAR), they the MUSLIMS have the HYPOCRISY to say "Oh, we want Chechnya to given independence" and then support Shamil Basayev The 'Brave Mujahid' who shoots eight year olds in the back at BESLAN.

Why should Jesus have forgiven those who nailed Him to a cross? Why should St. Timothy have forgiven those who stoned him to death? You should forgive because you have been COMMANDED by God to forgive. I'm not saying that forgiving these grave atrocities is an easy thing. It's probably the most difficult thing to do on earth. But Jesus has said that if we do not forgive those who do us harm, God will not forgive us. That is why you should forgive. Not for their sake, but for your own. Hate and vengeance will only poison your soul.

You are mixing your state and religion. I am interested in knowing are you a follower of Jesus.

Tell me what did Jesus said and done with regards to achieving peace?

As I said, Jesus Taught Peace but also taught against Injustice. Injustice happened when we lost our lands to the barbarian ottomans. Sorry, but you muslims can't have it all your own way, greece will eventually strike back and we will take back our own lands and burn turn the blue mosque into a church, just as you did with Hagia Sophia defiling it with the Minarets.
