And the Vatican is a really poor match with the previously mentioned characteristics ...

I see an exact match. We are looking for a woman that dresses in purple and scarlet and sits on seven mountains.

The Vatican calls themselves.....the Holy Mother Church.........hence woman

The woman dresses in purple and scarlet. Take a look at the gatherings of the Pope and you will see Cardinals and Bishops dressing in purple and scarlet. If I could post a link I would do it but I need 50 posts. The seven hills of Rome are the seven mountains.

This is how I feel about Revelation: If you have read it, you already know the CHRIST wins, which was no surprise to begin with.
Furthurmore, the Church(not collective buildings, but the True Holders(vessels) of the Spirit of CHRIST and of God) will not be here. Therefor, it is no good for those men and women to debate and bicker over any one idea.
The Book of Revelation is deep, super deep, and truly takes a mind of wisdom and a thorough study and comparison of the OT for the terms used in Revelation to make sense.

My personal standing is this; Babylon is not a specfic place so much as it is a system by which things work. Of course, it is concentrated in one area, more so than others, which as it stands now, is America. Babylon the system of idolotry and pagan worship has been around long before even CHRIST, especially concentrated in the ancient empire of Babylon(hence the name). The woman is a religious/governmental/corporate business system, which could very well be a referral to the Church of Rome, along with other institutions of high influence and power, which are known for their 'watered down Christianity', idolotry, pagan infultrations, deceit, riches through other's loss, blasphemy against God, inhumane treatment of men and women, an unquenched greed for money and power, and a luxurious lifestyle full of liesure and pleasure supported by bloodshed. As you will notice in Revelation, the woman is sitting on the beast(antichrist and his world system) and thus controls the beast for a short while. The antichrist will be limited in his power here on earth while babylon, this world system of government and highly influencial church control, is still in play. Once the beast turns against and devours babylon, the beast will be the only one in control. This will be when all other religion is discarded, and all other systems, for his system. His mark, his unholy trinity(satan as father, antichrist as son, false prophet as spirit), his image, his worship will be enforced. People in opposition at this point will choose the beast, or death.

But, as I said, just my belief. I personally, do not worry about this. I have no expectation of being here; and even if I am, I know full well who God is and who satan is, and am more than willing to suffer for my CHRIST.
