1 Peter 2:13-17 "Submit yourselves for the Lords sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is Gods will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as Gods slaves. Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor."
1 Thessalonians 5:21 "Test everything. Hold on to the good."
Ecclesiastes 12:12 "Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them. Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body."
Romans 13:3-4 "For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer."
Please do not slander the government without scripture to even back it up, the Bible from what ive read seems to promote respect for authorities. In fact it even tells us to love our enemies (Matthew 5:4)
Luke 20:25 "Caesar's," they replied. He said to them, "Then give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."
I agree, and just got finished reading about respecting and submitting to authority in 1st Peter. What I am promoting is the truth, and unless I am mistaken, my main exhortation was for people to think for themselves. We are told to submit to authority, to submit to your husband, to submit to your parents. The gray area is how far we are asked to submit. Would you submit to the government even if they asked you to abandon God and worship money? Or would you agree with your husband(if you're a wife) if he told you to stop reading your bible and become buddhist? What about your parents, if they asked you to lie to others, to purposefully sin so that they can be better off? That's the point I am trying to make. Those who say there is no persecution in America; get ready. It is getting to the point where you will be asked to comply with the new world order, receive the mark of the beast so that you can buy and sell, or continue serving God and be killed. The truth is not always comforting, but it is Light.
Personally, I do not agree with what they are doing, but I do not blame them either. They are satan's pawns. Whenever I feel charged about this, I pray for their salvation and repentance. And even though they have done these things to men and women just like me; I would welcome them into my family with open arms; for so is the Will of God. You are right, we are to love our enemies, and only wish them the best.
