• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Good question, and one I find myself asking all the time. When do lots of setbacks mean I'm barking up the wrong tree, and when is it a test of my perseverance? I guess I just KNOW. When something is wrong, I tend to get what I call my "brick wall" feeling. No matter how many times I try to accomplish something, I feel like something is physically holding me back, or like I'm mentally running into a brick wall over and over again, no matter which direction I turn. Not a foolproof method of judging whether you're acting in God's will, but it helps me.

i remember something my pastor once said, when he cant hear gods voice, and doesnt know where to go, he trusts the lord to order his steps.
since the steps of the righteous are ordered of the lord.

when god isnt leading you, you follow the vision, when hes isnt there with you, directing you, then go where you knows hes set in your heart for you to go.
i mean, maybe he doesnt seem to be walking with you, but you know where your passion wants you to go, your vision or goal, and you press towards that.

another thing ive heard said alot is that the teacher doesnt answer questions during the test.
im not saying god is testing you in order to know you, he may be, but you are surely going through alot of trouble, and sometimes god doesnt speak to us. and we have to live off the word of god, instead of his voice sometimes.
the valley is hard and dark and so lonely, but there is an end to every valley.
one thing ive learned from the bible is that every great man or woman of god with a real vision or calling of god, goes through the wilderness, a troubled, hard, dry, lonely, dark, place.
there is a wilderness before every jericho, and there is a jericho on the other side of every wilderness.

when you cant hear god, trust him to order your steps, and just start walking toward the vision hes placed in your heart and live off the word of god, and know, on the otherside of your trouble, there is a peaceful, rich place flowing with milk and honey waiting for you.
but never stop praying, you may not be getting an answer but your prayers are carrying you. and sometimes you have to get where you were wanting you go and only then do you realise that he was with you, carrying you all along.

does it?
well the vision the desire in your heart, surely cant be to find a dead end road. and i do not beleive that it leads to one either.
it may look like one, but if your vision is from god, then there is a way, somewhere somehow. god will never lead you to a place of no hope, if god has put that desire in you, then he has predestined a pathway for you.
a man once said to me something that shocked me and ill never forget it.
"theres always a ram in the bushes"
refering to the story of abraham.
dont lose hope, stay in prayer and trust in the lord, god will provide, or make a way.

this thought comes to me,
the people had followed jesus into the wilderness, and did not have enough food to eat, and could not make it back to town to buy more without fainting, it was a place of no hope, there was nothing for them there. there was nothing they could do, nothing.
they were out there, and all they had was a hope in the man they had followed, jesus.
and one thing jesus said stuck with me when i first read it for myself, he told them to "sit down" and if you read thru the other gospels, on all the accounts where he multiplied food, he told them to "sit down". and then god did a miracle, in the middle of what looked like their dead end road. but they had to sit down and wait and trust.
when you get to the end of your road, and there is absolutely nothing you can do, all you have is faith, and if god doesnt do something, then its over for you and your vision.
i beleive god is saying to us in those times, "sit down"
you have done all you could, and god will sometimes wait untill you are their to do a work so you dont look over it or not appreciate it.
sit down, and let god make a way.

it reminds me of a psalm i once read.
ps 124.1-2
IF IT HAD NOT BEEN THE LORD, who was on our side, now may isreal say,
IF IT HAD NOT BEEN THE LORD, who was on our side, when men rose up against us.

if you can complete your vision by yourself, then it isnt from god.
but god will lead you into a place where you see nothing at all, and god seems to be taking you no-where, but dont lose hope, he will move and you will say "if it had not been for god!...."

he may lead to some dead end looking roads, like the isrealites up agaisnt the red sea, but no matter what, if thats where god lead you, thats where he wants you, and he will make a way.
sometimes you have to sit down, and wait on the lord to provide a ram in the bushes.

sorry, i was gone for a week in new york city.

well, then you ask god for guindance, acknowledge him and he will direct your paths, if you ever need wisdom, ask and hell give it liberally. thats what the bible says.

........can you tell me whats going on?
i mean, what could be causing this much confusion?
