Okay hello, I am new here and I kind of have a learning disability so please bear with me!

I have come to the conclusion that the voice in my head is not from God.

It cannot help me solve math problems, it says "oh go do this, it will work" and it does not work.

Then it says go here because no one will be here, but people are everywhere and it does not help me.

I have failed in relationships, tests and other stuff because this voice would assure me, this is right do this! It is not right it just messes me up.

I still believe in God 100%

I would like to know if any other Christians get this voice or a different one? Do you ever feel like God is really speaking to you, does he speak to you in tangible ways or differently? I would appreciate any advice because I have really been screwed up about 90% of the time because I would go off on a limb.

Thank you

1John 4 tells us to test the spirits, because not all spirits are from God.

1Thessalonians 5 tells us to prove all things, hold fast to what is fine.

Proverbs tells us a wise man makes his steps secure.

James 3 tells us that the wisdom of God is "first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace."

If you've been hearing incorrectly, step back and rest in the Lord. Don't go out on a limb. Be patient, and learn to test what you hear. He does speak, but it is our responsibility to hear Him and weed out the counterfeit. Wait on Him, until He reassures your heart with His peace. He is not going to drive you hard or pressure you. That's not His gentle way.

Ignore that overactive imagination of yours.
If you need to hear from God open your bible and read it carefully it context. God gave us the bible for that purpose. Proverbs 15:32-33
It sounds like you need to read the whole Book of Proverbs. Pray that God will reveal His wisdom to you. proverbs chapter 1
P.S. it helped me change my thinking from focusing on my feelings and impressions to thinking in a way more logical manner i.e. God's way.

It sounds to me like you are relatively new in the Lord and or you are misinformed.

The best way to know the Lords voice at the beginning of your walk with Him
is to read the Bible, especially the New testament and Proverbs.

Pray every time you read the Bible and ask the Lord to teach you
and to help you understand the truth of God's character as revealed
through the life of Jesus Christ as given to us in the New testament.

Ask the Lord to calm your thoughts and to remove the confusion
you are now sensing in your thought life.

Seek out others who have walked with God and have become
mature in the Lord and have become proficient in hearing God's
voice and ask them to help you grow in the Lord.

There are three inner voices that we at time can hear in our lives....
our own inner voice, the devil's promptings and the Lord's voice.

You really need other stable and mature Christians in your life
to help to disciple you so that you too can grow and become mature
and discern which voices are working in your thought life.

Read God's word, pray and seek out others who have walked
with the Lord and have God's wisdom in their lives and who are
willing to share what they have learned.

Pray....
Ask God for His help...

i think you need to ask yourself ... what is this voice?

if you are really hearing an actual voice - you may need to seek medical treatment. clearly whatever you are hearing is not coming from God, or it would not be wrong. i doubt seriously that it is the Devil or an evil spirit. I do think you need to see a psychologist - if you are actually hearing something. sometimes when people speak of being "called" they are referring to a feeling in their heart. But they are not hearing apparent sounds - like something coming in their ears.

best wishes to you.

I don't think I have schizophrenia, I do not see a psychologist, they actually kind of scare me. I have had this voice tell me very irrational things, it actually tells me to sin sometimes. I am not even kidding, it is all like wow dude you are so depressed so why don't you just go forget about work or whatever and when I have bad thoughts it says it will beat me up.

you are doing a very good job of convincing me that you should see a psychologist. it is important that you do so. i am not rushing to make any kind of judgment ... i am not qualified to do that. however I know someone - a very nice person - who had an illness where they heard voices, but sadly they refused any kind of treatment. i believe that they would probably have lived a normal and happy life - if they had only been treated. unfortunately, it worked out much worse for them - because they did not seek medical help.

my suggestion is ... go.

Sure you have this LOUD bullying voice that tells you:
"You should do this, and you should do that" (if you hear the word "should" its NOT from GOD).
"You are going to die"
"Nobody likes you"
"You will end up on the street"
"kill this person"
"don't you hate this guy/that guy"
"you will get that disease"
"God can't forgive you for that"

All this and more belligerent put downs, threats, and dark thoughts.

That is why we are told to "take every thought captive".

It is a battle!
And you will win it!

And the bonus, is that you will hear HIS voice better. Distinguishing between the Shepherds and the enemy.

Resist the evil (hate it) and cling to what is good.

Put your mind on things above, heavenly things, on good things see Colossians 3:2

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing.
Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8
