  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

So, I guess it is my turn to rant a bit. I have an alarm in my house which has a nifty glass break sensor tied into it. I got a call from my alarm company while on my to work this morning that it had gone off. I immediately thought the dog took something off the counter and broke something in the kitchen. Nope. One of my kids left a glass of what smelled like milk (gone sour) on the table and it exploded (I have a theory as to how). I was able to call the police off through the alarm company before they actually got to the house, but then I had to clean up the table and all the broken glass. All because it takes too much effort to rinse the glass out and at least put it in the sink.

And I got a call from my mom last night, because my ex called her to have her take my kids over night (she has 1/2 custody of our two kids) because she didn't pay her power bill and it got shut off yesterday. This after 4 cars repossessed and several eviction notices. I would take the kids from her, but I fear they would see me as the bad guy and have to deal with court proceedings. I just don't understand why going out and partying all the time is more important than providing a stable home for the kids. Grr....

So sorry, Tink. I get the first. My son is pretty good about rinsing his dishes and putting them in the sink but the hubby and our daughter? Forget about it. Not sure what to say about the second. Sounds like a terrible situation.

Ok, seriously freaking out. Somebody tried & almost succeeded to break into the private restroom at my office while I was using it today. I have been literally shaking. Who does that??
That is so many shades of wrong.

Actually, yes.
My husband found it on the lawn of our neighbours house, nothing was even taken from it! It was quite the miracle!

My husband has put in about 4 hours of *unpaid* overtime every night for the last week and a half. Technically he's supposed to finish at 6pm; it's now 1.30am and he's still at the office. (And I know he is where he says he is because he - at his own suggestion - put some kind of app on my phone that shows me his location.)

Now he's going to have to catch up on all his lost sleep tomorrow and we'll have to cancel the plans we had for the day.

Why are some bosses such jerks?!

My wife belongs to another discussion forum (not CF). She's been following one of those 'why I hate religion' threads and people have been posting all sorts of Youtube videos of how they have been 'saved' from works based Christianity and now they see the light, it's all about grace, etc., etc., etc. But WHY do they all insist on bashing fellow Christians in the process??? It just seems that those who are saved by grace hate those who are saved by works and those who are saved by works hate those who are saved by grace, and those who are not saved at all hate all of us....
Gimme a break...

"It was painful to realize that it wasn't going to work out" - Lisa Welchel on the end of her 24 year marriage.

Despite what it appears I believe at times, there are times I DO actually believe divorce is sin and we need to repent before a righteous God. "Wasn't going to work out" is one of those times...

I have to say that there is probably more to her story that what is actually told.

I have been looking for part-time jobs to supplement my primary job. I found a perfect one at Best Buy as a "Counter Intelligence" person...love that title. It would be checking people into the Geek Squad department and supervising the Geeks. With my background, I'd be perfect for the job.
And it's about 30 seconds from my daughter's school. I could work in the mornings that I pick her up and go right from work to get her, nice and easy. Problem is, there's no way to apply for the job! The listing is supposed to have an "Apply Now" button and it doesn't. There are identical listings for two other stores in the area and they don't have it either, but listings in other areas do. I even hunted all over Best Buy's "career" page (which sucks btw!) for a way to put an application on file like many companies/agencies allow you to do now. No luck.

So I called the local store and spoke to someone in the Geek department first to ask about the schedule. He said it was very flexible and that they would work with someone's schedule. Sounds good! Then I told him about the missing button on the listing. He verified the problem on his end and said he will submit a ticket so it can be resolved. Great!

So I ask him if I could be contacted when it's fixed. He hemmed and hawed about how he can't. So I asked if *somebody* could. He asked a manager and they said call the main Best Buy number. Yeah. I did that knowing what the outcome would be. It took me three tries for them to even understand what I was talking about. Then they tell me there's nothing they can do.

So I call the local store back and they transfer me to some HR type department. I am parked on hold for more than 20 minutes. It was early evening, so I hung up thinking I'd just try again over the weekend and call on Monday if it still isn't fixed.

So frustrated. A perfect job for me and I can't apply for it!

My wife says to go down there in person and tell them that they should hire me for being proactive. I said I sure will right after I apply!

Oh, and they tested the fire alarm this morning at work. For like a half hour. It is *the* loudest and most piercing alarm I've ever heard. I'm glad my coworker texted me so I could bring earplugs! I'd have had to sit outside and wait if it wasn't for the earplugs. It's that loud.

I'm not sure if I am the only one like this or not. I've basically set aside Sunday as a do-nothing day. I'm sure many of you here have done this. I don't exercise, I don't do any house work, I don't worry about school, etc, etc... But every Sunday evening, without fail, I look around and think back over the day and I can't help but think that I've wasted a whole lot of time.

I"m very thankful each Monday morning when I'm refreshed and relatively ready to take on the week but, on Sunday evening I always feel just a little depressed and that's annoying.

Here's something I've thought might alleviate this feeling. I'm so glued to my schedule the rest of the week but, I don't have anything blocked in for Sunday because I figure it should just be a "go with the flow" kind of day. That, obviously, doesn't work because I am just not a "go with the flow" kind of person.

I've thought that I might feel better at the end of the day if I did block a few things in. I could look back and be like: 2 hour nap? check; three hours of mindless TV? check; an hour of video games? check. Yep, all the inane time wasting things were taken care of. This has been a productive day.
