This one is posted in jest....

Now, normally I don't mind vegetarians, but I really hate it when they get all superior and preachy about the evils of eating meat. Once I was on a date with this girl and she was a vegetarian, and she started on my about the steak I was eating. So I looked at her and said, "If you want to only eat vegetables, that's fine with me, but the way I see it, this cow used to be a vegetarian, and look how things turned out for him."

That would be a good time to quote this verse :

RO 14:1 Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. 2 One man's faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him. 4 Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

Im a SDA in Australia, and was wondering, am I the only person thats a vegetarian not because of health or belief, but because i just dont like meat? My church friends think its wierd, for some reason ever since i was little i didnt eat any type of meat,(much like many people dont want to eat brussel sprouts lol). Just thought it was odd, wonder if anyone else was the same as me, cause i dont know anyone!

I don't think it is odd at all. In fact, my 3 y o hates meat -- won't touch the stuff. Will see what happens down the road as I am definitely not forcing him to eat it. I knew a few people who just didn't like meat. As long as you get your protein and are healthy, I don't think there is anything to worry about.

Did someone actually say this? This is so not true for so many reasons:

#1 Jesus ate fish

#2 This means that we have salvation by faith, not works

#3 The health message is not a message of salvation. The Bible does say that our bodies are the temple of God and that we must take care of them, but I'm sure there are some non-vegitarians who take better care of their bodies than vegetarians

Yes, I am a vegetarian for health purposes but it has nothing to do with me going to heaven or not.

I think He ate Passover Lamb too??? Or did The Jewish people at the time simply slaughter the lamb? I heard discriptions of the streams of blood from Passover lamb...

As for a veggie only diet, I am sure it's healthier, but I like turkey I can't help it. maybe I don't want to help it either. Unless God told me otherwise, I will continue to eat it.

My daughter, now eight would NOT eat meat. I think she ate Only sheeps milk cheese for the first 4 years of her life. :sigh: She's STILL a picky eater..

Well for me I ate meat constantly. And I only quit because I went to Adventist college and thought I would try it. That, exercise, and eating more healthfully in general helped me to kick asthma, so it has been well worth it.

It is only once in a great while now that I have any asthma symptoms.

My nephew who is now 20, and believes whole heartedly in Tri-Tip and every other expensive cut of beef he can get, would not touch red meat until he was about 4-5.

If you are a very strict vegetarian then you need to be aware that you will not get all your B group vitamins from vegetables.

Take a good B vitamin suppliment to go along with good vegetables.

I take one as now after many years I found out that I am B12 defficient and it needs to be built up. It is not so bad that I need injections but it is still below what it should be. I have only recently found this out, so be careful.

Lack of vitamin B12 will affect your nervous system and growth. Long term it can also have an impact on many aspects of a persons development.

No doubt Cliff, I had the same problem. I was told that they were going to put me on blood pressure medicine at 30 years old or so.

I didn't want to go on any medicine that I would be on the rest of my life, so I asked a former pharmacist, now homeopathic guru from my father-in-law's church, and he said get on B vitamins immediately. A lot of folks don't take that guy seriously (perhaps because he wears a crash helmet in his car), but he was right on. It took care of the problem.

A lot of companies make a heart or stress formula that has your b vitamins and some others. It worked for me.

Fortified breakfast cereals usually have a lot of B12 in them too. That's one of the first things someone suggested to me when I said I was becoming vegetarian.

Vitamin pills usually end up in the sewer (if you know what I'm saying) so I would suggest the liquid drops if you really want to absorb it quickly into your system (you put them under your tongue).

Milk has B12 as well, but I can't stomach it hardly at all anymore. Some higher quality soy milks are fortified with B12.

PS...wearing a crash helmet while you're driving probably isn't such a bad idea..lol. I'm sure that's a sight though.
