  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Great A long list of PRATTS. Here are some of the more onerous ones:

"There is no scientific study to determine whether vaccines have really prevented diseases"
Really? I thought such studies went back to Jenner's work with cowpox vaccines back in 1796.

"ALL THE VACCINE INGREDIENTS ARE EXTREMELY TOXIC IN NATURE"
Really? I guess we must all be dead then.

"The mercury, aluminum and live viruses in vaccines is behind the huge epidemic of autism (1 in 10 worldwide as per doctors in the USA), a fact that has been admitted by the US Vaccine Court. "
Really? The truth is there is NO causal link between anything in vaccines and autism.

"Nearly all children become fully autistic after the MMR shot."
This is just a load of bull.

"Many doctors argue that diseases during childhood are due to the body exercising its immune system."
Really? I guess we can just throw the Germ Theory of Medicine out along with all those other pesky scientific theories like the heliocentrism, gravity and evolution.

"It has been scientifically proven that vaccines cannot prevent disease"
Really? I would love to see the peer-reviewed literature that shows this gem.

I guess any idiot can put garbage up on a website and someone will site it.

Get out of here with your facts!

This is a joke, right? It's painfully obvious that this "Jagannath Chatterjee" has not the slightest clue what he is talking about.

thank you for the input! i dont like the ideas of vaccines at all, but i see the benefits of soemthing like tetanus! but the more dangerous vaccines seem to be for things that are easliy treatable or dont even get these days in the united states, it seems like a no brainer not to give these vaccines! thank you for the inforation i will def look into that!

Yeah, it's weird how polio and small pox don't seem to be around much any more. I wonder why?

I can understand and tolerate that some of you hardliners condem evolution and everything other which goes against your holy scripture, but when it concerns the health and life of your and our (my) children you should absolutely stop your ramblings and not listen to celebrities and other weird people but to scientists and medics who studied these things.
The (physical) life and health of your children should never be governed by your believes!

If the people who oppose vaccines could see what letting these diseases run rampant looks like, they would acknowledge that the risk posed by the vaccines themselves is minor in comparison and a more than fair trade-off.

Its sorta ironic how people can complain about it purely because it works so well.

Any ideas where to send them to if they wanna have a look?

Smallpox, nowhere. Polio... Afghanistan or Somalia (pretty sure of those two). I think there might be two more countries where it still exists. It really isn't rampant anywhere any longer, though.

Smallpox we eradicated through vaccination, due to the lack of animal vectors. Polio is endemic to most of the indian subcontinent, and areas of africa -- where it had been nearly eradicated, until a group of muslim imams in nigeria, during 2003, started preaching that vaccination was the white man trying to spread AIDS and kill africans. within a few years, 15 countries in africa were reporting polio -- countries that had not seen a single outbreak in more than two decades. similar scare tactics have accounted for the spread in india, pakistan, bangladesh, and afghanistan.

As for MMR, tetanus, etc, not a clue.

MMR is a vaccine, not a disease (Measles, Mumps, Rubella). Tetanus is a condition caused by a neurotoxin produced by a bacterium, and is fatal (mortality rates from 40-70%, 10% for the rare cases of vaccinated people who acquire it). Certain antibiotics can kill the bacterium, but that does not affect the neurotoxin in the victim's system -- passive immunization is critical at that point, and there is still serious risk of death. Tetanus is almost exclusively suffered by the unvaccinated, and the human body does not produce antibodies against the toxin, even when exposed to lethal doses.

I have no clue where that "40 Reasons" trash came from, but that is the single most transparently stupid thing I have read in ages. Possibly ever. Here's the one that takes the cake though:

"Vaccines suppress the natural immunity and the body does not have natural antibodies anymore."

The way that vaccines work is by stimulating the immune system to create antibodies.

I really wish that an Immunology course was required for all graduating high school seniors here.

With their deficits in elementary biology though, they'd think it was a lie.

"Why would we require drug cocktails? Just use penicillin! What's that? Penicillin resistant strain?! Don't lie to me, you heathen! Everyone knows bacteria can't 'evolve' penicillin resistance, that would be gaining information, something that requires intelligence! EVILUTION IS A LIE!"

No, my dear, I'm afraid it might be a better idea to force them to actually learn the material in Biology and Chemistry first.

Well, I was thinking as like an advanced level class after everyone took a year of basic biology and chemistry first. But dang, our high school students are so dumb...they probably wouldn't be able to handle it.

Just the fact that vaccine companies use terms like "herd immunity" is reason enough for me not to get them.......BBBBaaaaaaaaaaddddddd, study the medical history of vaccines, or the work of Dr. Alton Ochsner he was so sure the polio vaccine was safe he gave it to his own grandson and granddaughter, in front of a whole medical conference, few days later his grandson died, and his grandaughter had polio. A good book to read is "Dr. Mary's monkey" by Edward T Haslam. that wonderful little polio vaccine my have stopped polio but we now have a soft tissue cancer epidemic.....NICE TRADE OFF! the polio vaccine had a cancer virus, discovered by bacteriologist and M.D.,PhD. Bernice Eddy this was before it was released to the public.

They have gotten the cooperation of local religious leaders in Nigeria now, however, and the project is slowly recovering. Nigeria itself reported only 21 cases in 2010, which is a tremendous improvement. Eradication in Africa now seems achievable. India is also seeing major gains. Pakistan and Afghanistan are another matter. The Taliban are not exactly cooperative, and have murdered people involved in the vaccination campaign.

IThis is just one more reason for me to homeschool my children! This is my point of view on vaccines.

What do other people hear think?

I think this is one of the unfortunate downsides to a free society - adults with crazy ideas get to inflict them on their children. Unfortunately it's not the (vaccinated) irresponsible adults that are going to end up being crippled by easily preventable diseases, but what can you do?

Anyway, if you decide to endanger children by not taking easy steps to prevent the spread of diseases it is imperative that you not only keep your children out of public schools, but also out of other public activities as well. Unfortunately it's OK for you to risk their life based on irrational fear, but please don't do the same to other people's children. Keep your kids isolated and out of the general population so others aren't hurt by your irresponsible behavior.

Wow..

Would you anti vaccine people feel the same way when they develop a vaccination for cancer?

Yep, look at the hysterical response to the HPV vaccine.

I think that one is more on the "it will make the kiddies have sex!!!!" than actual fear over the health implications. But it's scaremongering nevertheless.

It hits the conservative Christian boogeyman trifecta - sex is bad, science is evil, and the government is conspiring against us.
