• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Don't be silly. If any of those things apply, YOU SHOULDN'T BE HAVING SEX. :preach:

If contraceptives are only acceptable for medical purposes, and sex is strictly for baby makin', does that mean infertile couples should never have sex?

Of course! Because, as we all know, any relationship that cannot produce offspring is unnatural, perverted, and is a grave sin!

that is not the doctrine of the Biblical Church. it is true that any sexual act deliberately rendered sterile is unnatural, etc

why is it suddenly okay in our times for Christians to use one another for sex without a full gift of self?

if a man cannot wait until the right time to be with his wife--whether to achieve or avoid pregnancy--then how can he claim to have self control?

I'm unaware that it has suddenly become 'okay' for Christians to use each other for sex. From where and whom are you getting claims that it is now okay for Christians to do so?

Post-menopausal wives shouldn't have sex? Or wives who've had a hysterectomy?

the Church of Jesus does not teach that married people naturally incapable of procreation should abstain from sex

well, what do you think "total commitment" means if not marriage?

Marriages can be annulled, partners cheated on. A ring on the finger doesn't have magic properties that make a married couple unable to break their committment.

And besides, it's stupid to think that two people in their twenties should be shackled to each other until they die. What if they change as people, have fights, or fall out of love?

And finally, why should sex mean "total committment" any more than cooking someone a meal, or playing a round of golf with them should? So long as both parties know what they're getting into, what harm is there in having sex with someone whose adult nappy you don't plan on changing 60 years into the future?

because I think that people need love more than anything

they need someone who won't leave them.

I get love from my family, and from my friends. Those people aren't any more likely to leave me than someone I'm having sex with. In fact, friends rarely decide to stop seeing each other because "things aren't working out", or because they're "not each other's type". For sure, people need love, but why do they have to be having sex with only one person for their entire life in order to get it?

Its not our place to tell people what they need. Different people have different needs. And as has been said before, marriage doesn't guarantee anything. Just look at divorce statistics, infidelity statistics, and unhappy marriage statistics. There are no guarantees in life.
