  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Seems you missed the point they are complaining about is not the fact Maduro was removed but that Trump has taken over another country for their oil.
Historically, the US has taken Latin American countries for fruit. And to finish a canal.

Be that as it may, what happened today was the removal of Maduro; the organization he built is still intact. That means nothing has changed but the leader of the regime. Note that after Al Capone was arrested and convicted, his organization, the Chicago Outfit, persisted. Whether Manduro's regime chooses to do business with US oil companies remains to be seen.

Also to point out, Venezuela is still surrounded by American warships, and the president fully intends on "running" the country, at least for the time being.

I think we should keep Venezuela.
That would be imposible. The US does not possess or control Venezuela.

"Special Forces" did a commando raid an captured two people and then left.

Trump claimed earler today that Marco Rubio had spoken with the Venezuelan VP, implying she was on board with the U.S. calling the shots.

Well, the VP just went on national television and defiantly demanded the US return Maduro.....and declared a national emergency.
Quibble about timing. I heard the Rodriguez statement prior to the Trump statement.

The location of Rodriguez at the moment appears hazy. Some reports are that she is in Russia. Russia may or may not have said she's not there. If she is, given the timing, she was likely there prior to the raid, plausible given Russian relations with Venezuela. But if she was there before, it raises the question of whether she was aware of the raid in advance.

As an isolationist, I am deeply concerned about Trump’s actions here. I generally support our immigration crackdown and Tren de Aragua is a dangerous gang that needs to be rooted out in the US. The leftist, mass migration, human trafficking lobby always put out disclaimers as to how bad this gang is.

What is deeply concerning is that Maduro claimed to want discussions just a couple days ago. In this scenario we had legitimate reasons and capability to seriously pressure him to get his act together on the drug trafficking ( I think). Now what? Venezuela seems like a better candidate for the generally failed “nation building” strategy as opposed to the likes of Iraq, Afghanistan etc. since it usually a functioning state.

Tren de Aragua is a genuine problem for the US and became entrenched during the term of the previous, catatonic president wheeled around by whoever was running the US into the ground. When Tren de Aragua was setting up shop in Colorado ( now a safely politically mapped blue state), the politicians there tried to downplay the dangers as hysteria.

As usual the barrage of false racial accusations towards those who realized this was a dangerous gang. The same kind of accusations against people taking notice of the corruption in Somalian sections In Minnesota. Well now we know that Tren De Aragua is a dangerous syndicate as per the Denver Gazette.

Perhaps she gave an earlier announcement by a telephone interview.

I was refering to her later appearance on camera....along with other government officials:

The name calling is unnecessary but it shows just why you look up to such a terrible character like Trump.

Y’all are made for each other.
I didn't call anyone names. I did label your politics, and it appears a nerve was hit because I was right.

Of course it does. Maduro nationalized it to rob it blind. Venezuela’s economy was very strong before Chavez and Maduro destroyed it. Before these two dictators was a rich country that offered a plethora of social services to its people. After them the Venezuelan economy is in shambles. The volatility of the Venezuelan bolivar is tremendous with hyperinflation and hardly has any value. People there are suffering.

Politics wasn't even the major cause of that decline. Instability in world oil markets was a bigger factor. And now, Venezuela faces sactions, so it's hard to build a strong economy when your biggest natural trading partner boycotts you.

looks like the marxist is confused. The fascist is the piece of garbage that just got taken out of Venezuela with his wife and got the marxist's feewings hurting
Lol. Only one confused here you.

You got all your ideologies mixed up. Fascists are right wing. Marxists are left. Maduro is a socialist. Fascists are like the Nazis who invaded and imposed their twisted ideology on the states they occupied.

Many people on the right argue that nazis were socialists and thus on the left since they called themselves national socialists.

I’ve heard this before and it’s about as accurate as calling North Korea democratic or Iran a republic.

I mean… it’s right there in the name!
