• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am sorry that your family has chosen not to speak to you because of your lifestyle.

I do believe that whatever lifestyle one chooses is a choice.

I know several gay men and they are normal people and don't act like girls.

I don't think you should be dead.

If you are happy with your lifestyle choice, then that is what matters. I think people who are gay and try to pretend to be straight are doing a disservice to themselves and to those around them.

Such as what you said. You assume it isn't fact, but you can't prove it isn't.

Neither can you prove that there are no Giant Green Blob Monsters living in the lower atmosphere of Jupiter. However neither is there reason to believe that they are there.

Welcome to the board, SLN!

Believe me, I know it's hard. Not everyone is going to understand, and not everyone is going to be supportive. Some will come around in the long run.. others won't. By being open about who you are, you're taking a risk. You're also giving yourself the opportunity to live a full and honest life, and, ultimately, helping to dispel the stereotypes and combat the ignorance at the heart of homophobia. These are positive, commendable things.. and in the end, they're to everyone's benefit.

I wouldn't be so quick to write everyone off. One of my most supportive friends is a conservative christian. I was so afraid of how she'd respond when I came out to her, but she took it all in stride and then some. She was very cool about it. There are a number of wonderful gay-positive christians both on and off this site.. and many more who, while they might not understand or condone homosexuality, aren't going to condemn you or treat you unkindly because of who you are. There are some bad eggs too, but try not to let them get to you. I know it's easier said than done, but ultimately, intolerance is the sufferer's problem. Don't give them the power or the authority to make it yours. Anyone who can't be bothered to treat you with the respect and decency you deserve as a human being- gay or straight- is not worth your time.

Ah, yes.. and, seeing as I happen to be an athiest, prayer isn't really my thing.. so you're safe. ;)

Hang in there.

Lilly, you tell us how some guy you see somewhere is cute. Personally, I don't think that's lust. It's a pretty normal thing. If a guy has those same sorts of feelings to another guy, I don't think that's lust either.

Eventually I'd expect you to fall in love with a guy and marry him. I don't think that's lust. I'm not sure what your meaning by gay life style is, but is it any more lust than what you might have if like you, a guy falls in love with another guy and wants to marry him?

I understand that the attraction thing may be somewhat uncontrolable...but living that lifestyle is indeed a choice.

Please do not use terms like "lifestyle" which trivialize others' loves.

It sounds like you've had to deal with a lot of hatred and ignorance from others, and for that you have my genuine sympathy. I don't think there's anything wrong with being gay, and there are many people on these forums who feel similarly (even some Christians). And even though I know that it happens, and happens far too often, I will never understand how parents can turn away from their child just because that child is gay. They are the ones who are doing wrong. I hope you never let someone make you feel wrong or evil because of something that is simply a part of who you are and is not inherently wrong.

Welcome to CF. I think you'll find that for every person here willing to throw fire and brimstone and Leviticus at you, there are at least two or three people ready to offer you friendship and kindness without condemnation. I hope that proves true in your life away from the forums as well.

If two heterosexuals live in a loving romantic relationship and want to get married, then it's good. Why would it turn into "not being able to control your lusts" when exactly the same thing happens between two homosexuals?

I'm sorry did you actually read this person's post, or are you only capable of having some kind of knee jerk reaction to the work "gay", that involves parroting your minister?

Being gay is part of who you are, it's not a choice, nor is it something to be ashamed of!

Welcome to CF. I am one of the Christians who believe that being homosexual is not evil, nor a choice. God love you and will help and lead you, if you will but listen to Him. I'm sorry for the homophobia you have experienced, especially with your parents. I pray you find what you are truly seeking.

11For lust is a shameful sin, a crime that should be punished. 12It is a devastating fire that destroys to hell. It would wipe out everything I own.

Wasn't sure if you were joking or not. But if serious, there's what the bible says about lust.
Explain how my lust will wipe out everything I own. I just checked my bank and stock accounts, my house, and my car, and they are still there, despite lust on a regular basis.

The thing is, the proof has been given, but I can't make you believe it. That's your choice.
Your "proof" is bible quotes.

What is your evidence that the bible is anything other than the word of delusional ancient men?
