It's good news, but does professor Meriwether still work at the University? After settling for 400k I imagine he's not on the best terms with the University and if he's no longer working there, it might personally benefit him, but his lack of presence there to teach Philosophy is a negative sign to me. He can only be replaced with a professor who is approved of and you can bet it won't be someone like professor Meriwether.

They put a letter in his file and the next step would have been termination. However, he received legal help, won the lawsuit, and so he is still there.

I've made many people uncomfortable refusing to call females, male and males female. Or those people who want to be called "they" or "them". I had a friend like that once. She got sick of telling me that me calling her female made her uncomfortable and I got tired of telling her that whatever sex God gave you, you're stuck with. Needless to say we're no longer friends. Where's my 400k?

I really appreciate this statement from the ADF...

“Public universities should welcome intellectual and ideological diversity, where all students and professors can engage in meaningful discussions without compromising their core beliefs,” said ADF Senior Counsel Tyson Langhofer, director of the ADF Center for Academic Freedom. “Dr. Meriwether rightly defended his freedom to speak and stay silent, and not conform to the university’s demand for uniformity of thought. We commend the university for ultimately agreeing to do the right thing, in keeping with its reason for existence as a marketplace of ideas.”
