Salvation what exactly is it and how does it effect and apply to our lives?
In many Christian circles salvation is understood and taught as receiving the free grace gift of eternal life from Jesus Christ and living eternally with him in the paradise of heaven in deep outer space with the angles in eternal happiness and bliss.
Yet if we look a little closer and dig a bit deeper with our spiritual pick and shovels we can discover more in regards to this often wrote about concept of being saved .
The first obvious step to take in understanding a personal experience of salvations is to search out the Hebrew and Greek definition of the word salvation or saved.
One important Hebrew definition is given as being
yasha` yaw-shah' a
be open, wide or free, i.e. (by implication) to be safe; causatively, to free or succor:
King James Bible translates as -- avenging, defend, deliver(-er), help, preserve, rescue, be safe, bring (having) salvation, save(-iour), get victory.
One main Greek definition is. . .
sozo sode'-zo f (safe"); to save, i.e. deliver or protect (literally or figuratively)
King James Bible translates as :--heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole
The English name Jesus is a trans literation from the Greek and comes further back to the Hebrew name Joshua or Ya shua which is defined as YHVH saves .
And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.
Often if the people or army of the nation of Israel were delivered from an unfriendly enemy the description of the event would be they were saved.
Or is a plague, disease or a injury to the body struck a certain individual or a group of people and divine recovery and healing came this happening would be described as those people having received salvation or were saved..
Is then salvation a one off experience like people being rescued from a fast sinking boat ?
Or is it a ongoing process over a long duration of time ? For example a person learning to speak a new language fluency .
The apostle Paul wrote to the Christian believers in Corinth
who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us;
in whom we trust that He will still deliver us,
This verse explains to us that Jesus Christ has delivered is delivering and will deliver.
This verse teaches us that salvation or to be saved is a past event, present happening and also future outcome in our personal lives.
The next obvious question that arises is what exact position or condition are we to be delivered or healed from ?
In one simple common new testament word, sin,
Salvation is being delivered or healed from sin, past sins. present sins and future sins.
So I have placed the word salvation or saved under the definition microscope to see what lies within so my next word is, , , SIN
Some important Hebrew definitions for the word sin means to go astray or error miss or wrong
The Greek word sin defines as to miss the mark or make a miss take also failure.
The Greek word sin is a major theme in the new covenant writings and is found very often.
So how is this missing the mark imagery and Analogy described.
There is a account in the old covenant of seven hundred sling throwers from the tribe of Benjamin. Many of them in all likely hood were solders. These men were recorded as having the ability to hit a target the width of one piece of human hair with a slung stone
.
That sounds miraculous to me and in all probability was .This skill would be a highly lethal skill in a battle situation.
King David as a boy used his sling and stone to hit the mark perfectly that being Goliath's forehead .The mark hit caused a fatal knockdown blow to the giant enemy.
David did not sin because he hit not missed the mark or centre of that human. target .
This popular new testament term sin is a term associated with the activity of archery .
When during competition or practice the bow puller aimed and fired at the distant painted circle target upon a board.
If the arrow missed the centre or bulls eye mark the points counter at the target end would cry out sin or the Archer had missed the desired centre mark.
To me this is a perfect human activity that symbolizes visually the concept of sin. The archery imagery describes, portrays and explains the whole scenario of what a sin or sinning is for a person.
To miss the all mighty is separation and duality
To hit is to have at_ one _ment with divine fruitfulness of character.
It is now time as before to move some more dirt to discover the deeper precious stones hiding below the surface .
The progressive step has now arrived to define what the point of the inner mark exactly is in this visual objects parallel .
Mark is the name of the author of the second new testament gospel.
A common mark in Bible times and today is a painted .,stamped or drawn cross .
In mathematics it is the plus symbol or character.
X marks the spot is a common saying today..
Where two marked lines intercept is the precise point of focus.
This method of cross marking also can be used in certain other construction applications to direct a worker to a vital important point or position.
How do I explain the mark in a Christian spiritual sense?
The mark is the Almighty Father and God Jesus Christ and his character , nature qualities, attributes, plans and purposes.
When people sin past, present or future they miss the perfect mark of who, what, when, where, and why the heavenly father Jesus Christ exists.
The statement I have been saved or I now possess my personal salvation is to experience no missing the almighty but rather hitting the mark of all he is and all he will ever be.
Possessing Jesus's Love, joy and peace, etc is hitting and becoming one with the all encompassing mark of his divine self.
I asked the question earlier in this writing ,is salvation a instant event or is it an ongoing and changing process .?
I say both .
The starting point of salvation is conversion. For example the apostle Paul when he had his sight restored after three days blindness was baptised in water and was converted from a old covenant Jewish believer into a new born Christian .
Paul also wrote many years after his conversion that he had not attained to all there was to have as a Christian believer and declared that he was still pressing on to the mark or centre target of the high call of Jesus Christ his lord.
The apostle Paul had a inner witness at this time of documenting that he had not yet matured into the fullness of one hundred fold salvation and was still progressing along the way of divineness of nature and character.
Later in Paul's life he penned the statement that I have fought the fight. I have run the race and now I have a crown of glory as a reward or prize waiting for him in the dimension of the kingdom of heaven.
To explain the apostle Paul's position at this particular time of writing I will give a description using a parable.
Paul had during his born again life climbed all the steps upward in Jacob's stairway to the heights of heaven and in character and nature he was seated resting with Jesus Christ on his throne of glory .
The apostle Paul knew that as a beloved son in whom there was great pleasing that he as a man had inherited from his divine father the prize of hitting the mark past, present and future Paul described this symbolically as ataining the crown of glory..
The man Jesus Christ climbed these same steps of salvation , learning obedience by his suffering in this world.
Accented into a higher dimension of heaven from the mount of olives.
Jesus declared to his listeners, destroy this human body and I will resurrect it back up to life again by his mature one hundred fold measure of faith.
To my understanding this was a top of the stairway declaration that soon manifested into reality as he rose up from the grave with a new celestial incorruptible body.
As a Christian I know that I have been saved and born again of incorruptible seed of Jesus Christ's spirit .
I also walk in my being saved or my ongoing salvation daily going from faith to faith, glory to glory .line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little bit more , there a little bit more of holiness.
Finally by believing the fathers promises by faith. my spirit, my soul and my body are all preserved in a state of full inheritance as my rightful legal position as a joint heir with Jesus Christ.
,
I see myself in humility with the single eye of faith and understanding as being strong , mighty and powerful as l am led along the way by the holy spirit of Jesus Christ..
My inner celestial body having Incorruptible completeness .By faith I am absent from Adams human body and am now present with the inner body of immortality.
By faith I am at peace that my soul this very day is perfect and complete in its current level of spiritual maturity..
Death and the grave shall no longer hold me captive.
Death by faith has alteady been swallowed up.
The final manifestation and culumation of my faith will eventuate in death and the grave being conqued forever as a material testimony for all men to acknowledge.
The end result in my faith walk will result in me receiving of the fullness and manifestation of the victors reward .
The justified shall live a life of faith of hitting the mark and being integrated into the mark.
Jesus is lord.
Hallelujah , yes and amen.
