  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

However, we should be accepted as we are. If we have to hide ourselves to fit what the potential date wants, we are living a lie and won't be happy, ultimately ending hating our relationship with our date.

If who you are is a clean face, toss-and-go hair kind of girl....yes, then that is the 'you' you should present to the world

I am talking about the people that hide behind their "ugliness"...choosing bad haircuts, never combing their hair, picking awful clothes on purpose and to get a negative reaction (yes these women do exist) ....this is just as "false" as the ones who hide behind fake beauty.

Ok, if i can connect your last post there with your OP; a woman who can avoid the 2 extremes you just described, and be somewhere in the middle ... that is extremely attractive. I'm not sure I could verbalize the connection btw this and what it reveals about the inner person, but it's unmistakably there. Honesty? Sincerity? If she can occaisionally be the 'clean face, toss and go hair kind of girl,' that's a bonus.

If you love the Lord and add openness to being genuine ... "her price is above rubies"

I YAM what I YAM lol. I do wear make up but I'm a covergirl kind of natural girl. I don't want my makeup to be such that when I take it off I look like a totally different person. I dress OK and I can dress up, but in day to day life I'm not all about the outfit. I wear jeans and shirts or blouses to work regularly. I'm clean and as far as my hair, other than the fact that I recently thought I could "trim" my own hair (which I cannot!) It's semi long and I just wear it down or in a pony. I don't think I look half bad, but I'm not a supermodel (darn it ;)). I don't need gucci bags or jimmy choo shoes in fact I can think of alot better things to spend my money (that I don't have) on (like bills lol). And I would not be any different because I happen to like who I am.

Java,
I think you express yourself very well in the posts I've read. If your not in the couple of bigger cities in Montana, I can see how it would be hard to find freinds that have the same interests that you do. That's why I'm kinds thankful that I'm living near Boston. There is so much to choose from here. Be it Christian or otherwise.
I can relate to spending too much time on the web. I try to spend a little time doing something and then get up and do something around the house before I get back online again. It seems to work so so ... LOL
I can't relate to your depression .. but that sounds like one of the things that can really affect your whole life. I pray that becomes history.

So do I, (bolded part) thanks Dayhiker:)
When i work my out of state seasonal job, there are more people to share similar interests with, but then it ends, and I'm back here stuck with winter and it wreaks havoc on my depression. i have to keep finding new work, sometimes just anything to pay the bills, and it's wearing on me.

Well their only 3 little states away ;)

Well I hope you feel better after writing that post. :hug:And I DO hope you post here when you can. I think we ARE an understanding group and you might like hangin with us too. Sorry for your depression. I don't have it, but I have had family that dealt with it and it sure is tough. I hope you do get to meet some people in real life as well that may help with your depression too. God Bless you sister!

:hug:Michelle:hug: I love what you and Dayhiker and others, post! You are wise and serious sometimes, giving great advice, and then lighthearted and fun! I really appreciate your caring. Thanks so much!

I will keep posting though it will probably be irregular, given I struggle internet addiction i believe. When I'm doing my seasonal work in the spring summer, early fall, I'm outside a lot. Winter is almost the direct opposite! It's almost funny in that i was the kind of person to 'do things' building up for a career (or career change which has happened several times!) or a hobby. Depression so easily tears that all down. I hope the people in your family that have it, are able to cope with it well!

So you get cabin fever as we used to call it. I've not heard that term much lately.

I got laid off 4 yrs ago. Had to do a few temp jobs and pick up a few fix it, painting type jobs to make some extra money to get by. After 3 yrs a finally got a good job in my field again. It was a nice break from the office being out doing physical work, but I was glad to get back in a job that paid well ... I hope you get that good job soon.

I still hear the term from time to time:) Though i admit I did feel cozy during the 2-3 day blizzard we recently had. My car looked like a marshmellow. I thought it was hilarious. (ever heard the Christmas song " It's a Marshmellow World?"). I really liked the work i was doing, it just isn't year round:( What is your field?
And I've wanted to ask, are you an avid hiker? I like your name;)

Learn to ski. Seriously! There's GREAT telemark skiing in Montana, it's super-cheap, keeps you young and fit, and totally beats the whole seasonal affective disorder cabin fever thing. Here in WI I actually look forward to winter now, and only wish I could get out to Montana ...

Tons of awesome scenery, cheap hook-ups for gear, instruction, details on where to go, etc ... www.telemarktips.com

That's funny, i'm originally from Appleton, WI! I do cross-country ski (I have all my own gear) on a nearby golf course to where i live, once in a while. Just no fun when you often can't find people do to it with. i'm an avid hiker in the warmer months, and I like to swim, camp, and golf.

I took a downhill skiing class in school and really liked it, but just not affordable for me to do right now. Remind me if telemark skiing is the same or is maybe that the one that's more a back country thing? You've heard of 'bushwhacking' when hiking? It would be going off the main drag/hills and routes when skiing. Where in WI do you live?
