The Hebrew men didn't know that Moses was also a Hebrew. To them, it looks like an Egyptian slew a fellow Egyptian. Moses, however, knew that the Hebrews were his brethren.

If you are then I have learned something new this evening ; then again you can educate me just a little bit more. How do you know that Moses was a member of the Egyptian royalty-?

I'm not saying that at all. Clearly Moses was a Hebrew. However, the slaves didn't know that. They only knew he was Egyptian royalty.
