To me one of the most underrated bands was Rainbow which recorded from 1975-1983. Though their sound changed quite a bit in those years, they were still a great band. Of course they were the group that put the late Ronnie James Dio on the map, he was gone from the group after 1977.

This first song is EPIC. From Dio's vocals, to Blackmore's guitar solo, to Cozy Powell's intro drum solo.

I've seen some good names mentioned here, especially Grizzly Bear, MGMT, and Arcade Fire (although I think they're more popular now, especially after The Suburbs won a Grammy for Album of the Year in 2011).
