Ukrainian police and prosecutors have accused two politicians and a former prosecutor of treason, saying they colluded with a Russian intelligence agency in aiding an effort by lawyer Rudy Giuliani several years ago to tie the Biden family to corruption in Ukraine.

Those accused include Kostyantyn Kulyk, a former Ukrainian deputy prosecutor-general who had drafted a memo in 2019 suggesting Ukraine investigate Hunter Biden, United States President Joe Biden’s son, for his role serving on the board of a Ukrainian energy company.

Also implicated were current member of Ukraine’s Parliament Oleksandr Dubinskyand former member Andrii Derkach, who had publicly advocated for an investigation in Ukraine into Hunter Biden. They had also promoted a spurious theory that it was Ukraine, not Russia, that had meddled in the 2016 presidential election in the United States.

The three were indicted on charges of treason [for cooperating with Russia's military intelligence] and belonging to a criminal organisation. The charges refer to “information-subversive activities” and focus on actions in 2019 before the US presidential election.

Ukrainian lawmaker with ties to Giuliani arrested on treason charges

Ukrainian law enforcement officials on Tuesday jailed Oleksandr Dubinsky, a member of parliament who four years ago helped Rudy Giuliani in his failed attempts to dig up dirt on Joe Biden on behalf of then-President Donald Trump.

Dubinsky is accused of treason for allegedly working to help Russia in its war against Ukraine. His arrest restores a spotlight on the efforts by Trump and his associates to gain political advantage by discrediting Biden and his son Hunter Biden.

In 2020 and [January 11th,] 2021, the United States placed the three men under sanctions after similarly accusing them of links to Russian intelligence services and attempting to interfere in the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

In December 2019, as the House was drafting impeachment charges against Trump, Giuliani, then the president’s personal lawyer, met with Dubinsky and Derkach in Kyiv while working on a documentary on Ukrainian corruption.

The most recent news I see comes from early December, when a court ruled to keep Dubinsky in custody. Dubinsky has claimed to have been beaten by police; police deny it.

Interestingly, the most recent chatter from a few hours ago is that Russia is planning "a special media operation" to discredit the prosecution.

Ukraine is justifiably trying to survive and must dance to the tune of those it owes its survival to.
Yes. That way they will be able to continue bombing the Eastern Russian speaking civilians and kill them longer. That will be great right? Waite. We illegally bombed and broke up Serbia. I propose we break up Ukraine as well. Right down the middle. 1/2 for the War mongering anti Russians in the West and 1/2 for Russia. I mean. If we are going to be honest here.

I believe Putin is a murderer and that we have meddled too long in foreign entanglements. Ukraine has long suffered from Russia and has wanted its own nation. The US is responsible for much of Ukraine’s misfortune but Putin is for the bloodshed. We owe something to Ukraine to help them out of the mess we helped create for them.

If Trump had been re-elected I doubt this situation would exist but his post 2020 election behavior also concerns me. Unfortunately,American nationalist & isolationist policies always are maligned by insane leftists & neoconservatives. Giving humanitarian aid only instead of military & ideological meddling to other nations would probably lead to more peaceful situations worldwide.

Let's just for a moment entertain the notion that Russia should get part of Ukraine...

Why should Russia get more of Ukraine than they currently control, more than they ever controlled even for a few days?
