Uhm... hi

Hey so I've never wandered over here before

But I feel like now I can because I started dating this guy who goes to church with me- this is the first time I've dated a church guy in 3 1/2 years. The last few were crazy punks from *the h-word*
(okay I'm sick of that "wash my mouth" thing)

Anyhoo... I wouldn't call what we have "courting" .. I don't even really know what that is, but if I'm not mistaken its some really strict, proper old-fashioned thing and that does NOT describe what me and my guy have- we go everywhere together, just have fun, even go to clubs and concerts. (we're like best friends but we're a couple) then we read the bible too and go to church together and compare notes because we want to know God's plan. I like this guy because me and him have similar backgrounds- same kinds of experiences and regrets and points of view.

We don't really know yet where this is going. no need to rush things.

So I guess I'm just writing to introduce me and the dude. I suppose if someone has some advice for us they should holler now.

I doubt anyone in this forum is actually "courting" as per the traditional definition. However you can date with the intention of marriage, maybe some people call that courting.

Anyways, congrats on the guy. It's good you are going to church together and reading the bible.

Courting is dating but they changed the name so that it sounds more virtuous.

I define dating as two people setting a date to meet and do things together so they can decide if they want to move into a more exclusive, intimate, personal friendship (courting).

During dating, I believe your just 'sussing' them out. If you decide you want to have an exclusive relationship with them, then you move onto courting.

well its more then a friendship, and we're not seeing any other people so i think its exclusive. Its more then courting too if courting is just "personal friendship"

I'm not much for labels, tbh. Courting, dating, chilling, going together... who gives?

As long as you two are clear on what your relationship is, that's the most important thing, imo.

HEY! I posted this nearly 5 years ago! HAHA

This guy I was speaking of, we'd just met in June 2009 and I already kind of wondered if he was "the one".
Well, it's been a long road... we were together and he was recovering from PTSD from the military... then we split for awhile...
...then God brought us back together once we'd both gotten healthier.

Guess what?
He IS the one!
Tying the knot very soon...
