No benefit do you have any information to substantiate that ? Just because something started out not necessary as good or right does not mean it does not get turned into something good or better. All you have to do is look at history, the present, pay attention to current events, pay attention to people of color... I'm not sure how to help you without attempting to give a long history lesson and then finding every single time when american white people have taken something from a brown culture and penalized them for it. In general, it is considered cool to have a "fullblooded Cherokee princess" in your bloodline when it absolves folks of white guilt, but it does not benefit native Americans (in a white american society) to be native american. It's cool for a white woman to wear a native inspire headdress to coachella while totally ignoring that native women are often over sexualized to this day. Their representation on TV and movies is usually one dimensional or nonexistant, thier their land is still occupied by people who came in and stole thier land, totally mishandled it, stole thier their people to put in boarding schools...they are still living with the effects of that. Some folks dont even know they still exist. we value them so little that, even with protesting, our country still wants to sully thier water with oil. Black people get told that thier hair is unprofessional, thier their lips are too big, thier their ways too savage, they have a semi renewable voting arrangement, and they are used for thier their contributions to music. All the while folks are out here renaming hairstyles they been wearing, trying to get bigger lips, using thier influences on music, etc.

Are you saying that american slavery and dealing peoples land and raping their people and continuing to kill them in the streets and not honor treaties is good for some reason? Water sustains. Wear isn't bad. White folks are going to have to acknowledge and come to terms with the fact that the there is not anything good about how this country continues to lie, cheat, steal, rape, and kill brown people. It may make you feel badly for a minute, but just imagine how badly everyone has to feel when putting up with people who refuse to look at the bad effects of the past. When white folks can own up to what's going on and brown folks dont have to keep living with injustice, then we can all "by past it." People who are not willing to do that are not doing their best.
