  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

U.S. Immigration - WE are NOT the problem. Our policies are NOT the problem.

You find what you look for is the chalice 1/2 full or 1/2 empty.
If the chalice started off at 100% full and is now at 50% capacity it is half empty.

If the chalice started off 50% full and is still at that level it is half full.

Cultural appropriations, yeah thats a term thats being thrown about today but hummmm. I wonder just how society would be without people having done that, and sometimes the are integrated into society and improved upon. Without it where would we be ? We would not have the freedoms we have today, we'd not even have pizza.

Says the person who more than likely never experienced cultural genocide a single day in his life or was told that the entire worth of his race could be found at the bottom of a whiskey bottle or has to painfully watch his culture being exploited and exposed for monetary gain and for the entertainment of American sports fans or has had to deal with racist remarks about his people and ancestors.

Cultural genocide. Look it up, particularly concerning Native Americans. The definition can be found on Google. And while you're at it, look up Historical Trauma and Intergenertional Trauma among Native Americans and the suicide rate of Native youth. You just might learn something and understand why I see culture appropriation of Native American culture as a real issue and why it bothers me so much.

Truth, will always be truth. did you watch the video.

Yes. I agree 100 percent with Eisenhower's warning....

And during this same period, the US Government was propping up dictators in Central America with "security assistance".....

Actually, corporations in the usa/ worldwide/ are devastating people's homes, families, lives, livelihoods (ways to make a living/ to survive) , habitat (for people, animals, crops, etc - i.e. poisoning and destroying millions of acres and more every day) ....

And the usa government/ powers/ military and other was wiped out Native American populations, Eskimo populations, and others not just on the continent, but around the world just for "profit" and power.

Don't forget about Hawaii and how America came to acquire that state.

And that makes it OK.

I've heard all the possible excuses before trying to excuse what happened to my ancestors and people in this country. I've been involved in Native American social justice and political activism for 27 years now, so this is nothing new to me. I'm sure I've heard it all. I should write a book or something.

hahaha - "freedom !?!?!? " ....... These are the same argument military governments have used to destroy millions of families for no good reason at all, always being opposed to Jesus in every way from the core (the governments)....

Freedom for whom? The white Anglo-Saxon Protestant male? The whole freedom, liberty and justice for all that this country was supposedly founded upon was nothing more than a facade. Minorities were denied civil rights and equality for 188 years in this country until the Civil Rights movement 54 years ago. The truth of the matter is, America has a terrible track record living up to its own alleged ideals of freedom, liberty and justice for all and its declaration that all men are created equal.

There are so many shades of gray, history was NOT as black and white as it is made out to be. "Native" Americans kept slaves, in fact they kept them after the "White" man outlawed it. Facts are people have done horrible things to one another for all kinds of reasons, right or wrong, We are better to be united than divided, we are better to love one another than to hate one another. It does no good to relive or discuss past wrongs if we do not learn from them moving forward, as far as freedoms are concerned, could we have more of the certainly and I think a well functioning goverment enhances peoples freedoms not remove them.

That’s it, all the white people in ‘Merica, start packing.
So they can spread sharia law. they come here not to assimilate. in there Quran they are instructed to search out the people of the Book(bible) for meaning. But their leaders to not show them that passage. they should be vetted by showing them the passage. If they except to learn what the bible really means then let them in.

Been there, done that and it hasn't taken away what I am still dealing with to this very day.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the old "Get over it!" ploy. Aw... if it was only that simple I could have saved all that money on therapists and I wouldn't have seen the majority of the NDNs I know have to deal with the horrors of PTSD and the ever-present effects of the trauma that goes along with it.

Since you seem rather relunctant to google Historical Trauma and Intergenerational Trauma among Native Americans and the high suicide rate among Native youth, let me help you out here.

The suicide rate among Native American youth is the highest in this country.
