Interesting that Wikipedia doesn't mention anything about "idolatry" in its article on KJVO.

Evidently that insult stems from a lower level of maturity than Wikipedia ... eh?

And you guys call yourselves "wise man"?

Regardless of which version you happen to read, they all say that *Jesus* (not any particular book) was the *living Word* of God. Why would I (or anyone else) put some specific translation of a book on the same level as Christ, the living *Word* of God?

Perhaps, then, you need to let your friends at Wikipedia know that, in your opinion, KJVO is a form of idolatry, eh?

(I can't believe you really believe this.)

Actually I put a lot less stock in WIKI pages than I put in *any* copy of the Bible. :) Once you've had someone go in and modify a WIKI page during the middle of a debate just to try to win the debate, it's tough to trust WIKI. :)

You and I both know that Christ is the 'living Word' of God. A book is simply an inanimate object. If you prefer one version of the Bible over another, that's no skin off my nose. I enjoy reading *all* the earliest versions of the Bible that I can find. Sometimes there are some telling differences in the translation that can be very informative IMO.

I simply don't put a book on par with Christ, and ultimately neither do you. ;)

And hopefully you realize that your antiwomanwithchild NIV says:

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active.

Jesus Christ is indeed alive and active in many lives even as we speak, but my Bibles are right where I left them, and they haven't budged an inch by themselves. :)

Maybe you should do like I do and pray to It?

Ya ... don't you wish the Mayflower Compact, Declaration of Independence, and U.S. Constitution would be rewritten so they're easier to read?

If it weren't for the MCOs, DIOs, and USCO idolatrists, we could have those documents upgraded with missing words, whole passages removed, and gender changes.

The first two are not legally binding anywhere today and are only notable for their historical significance. The latter has these things called "ammendments".

Well, at least you admit that your faith defies logic. ;-) I wish I could ignore logic, sometimes, I really do.
We're not asking you to give up your right to think straight and sit and stare blankly at an hypnotic pinwheel.

We just want you to realize you're a sinner, repent and ask Jesus Christ into your heart to be your Saviour.

Then you can stare all you want. ;)

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Of course not -- where would you get converts otherwise?

We just want you to realize you're a sinner, repent and ask Jesus Christ into your heart to be your Saviour.

No need -- I have embedded repentance.

Based on over seven and a half years here, I'm now condensing my apologetics down into two simple rules of thumb:

Rule One: Under no circumstances whatsoever is the literal translation of the King James Bible to be contradicted.

If necessary, use even the punctuation therein to defend your point; but never let a point contradict the Bible -- ever.

Rule Two: Seek a logical explanation first; and if that doesn't work, then go with a theological explanation.

Scripture first, followed by basic doctrine, followed by suppositions; but don't let the logical trump the theological.

Would that be your interpretation which cannot be contradicted?

Ok let me look at the op again.

Alright so if we change "the literal translation" to "a literal translation" that seems fine. By the second rule of thumb I think my interpretation that the bible holds the earth to be flat(ish) and covered with a dome holds up theologically.

I researched hypnosis, for use in the treatment of chronic pain (not my own), and found a statement that I think sums up hypnosis nicely:

"Hypnosis is a state of the mind in which the critical faculty (CF) of the human mind is bypassed, and selective thinking established"" - Dave Elman (The audio recordings of [his hypnosis] classes and his book HYPNOTHERAPY are regarded as classics in the field of Medical Hypnosis. wiki)

Is that not exactly what you are asking of non-believers? To bypass our own critical faculty so that we can believe your stories?

And how have you come to the idea that the King James Bible is the standard by which reality is to be set?
