  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The guy who killed those two police especially, and anyone who blames all cops for things done by a few, is being racist, only its not skin color so much as whether they happen to wear a uniform that motivates people stereotyping and stigmatizing them. Anytime someone calls an entire class of people racist they are doing exactly what they are accusing others of.

Perhaps, but what I've seen makes it pretty clear that proportionately speaking, blacks commit higher percentages of violent crimes. How do you argue against that?

Why? Because they are arrested and convicted more?

Do you know how many black people have been wrongly accused because of the "the big black guy" explanation? They are still trickling out inmates that are proven to be innocent, and people who use that excuse of the "black guy did it" are being exposed.

While the attendant at Neiman's is looking at me, Wynonna Rider is stealing them blind. That is America(R).

I don't know, who? As Preacher's Wife said, I go by my personal experience.

You do know who, don't play.

And, personal experience is ignorant. You have biases. You are not a neutral social barometer based on your experiences alone. Neither am I, which is why it is important as adults to see the world for what it is, not what we think it is. That requires empathy, responsibility and compassion. Oh, I see now...

I know a lot of very successful happy blacks who don't seem to fit into your scenario of absolute victimhood and racism. And blacks have to take some responsibility in being a smaller minority due to such high abortion rates and black on black murder. And many are in prison due to their violent crimes, so I would think that would feed the stereotype, not lessen it.

There is the problem - false labels. "Victimhood, irresponsibility..." yes, because we are victims, irresponsible, murderous and violent entities that are polar opposites of every other ethnic group on this planet - distinguished by our frequency to execute the stereotypes we fight against every day.

I graduated from an ivy league institution with an applied physics degree. I was on scholarship. I am no victim. I am a realist, and I see what is going on. I also study anthropology, sociology and history; something that is repeated with every racially distinguished argument against a people. Victim. Violent. Savage.

Yes, this is a repeat of history which many are actively participating in.

And, do you know why planned parenthood was started? Do you know why the prisons are New Slavery? You sound like you are regurgitating media quotes without actual knowledge of why these things feed into racism and segregation. I am not surprised.

And, really brewmama you are missing an important point: your emotions and slants to a particular narrative are feeding the demagogue machine, perfecting your psyche to become dehumanizing and soldiered against certain social and political issues.

All humans that see animosity, instead of cooperation are being had. That doesn't mean excuse inhumane activities by other humans, it means seeing through the beautifully painted illusion that has been fed to us over centuries, and actually confronting the real problem.

It isn't black people.

It isn't white people.

It isn't Asian people.

It isn't Latino people.

It is an assault on humanity. But, stereotypes and prejudice do a good job of dehumanizing - so well that humans actually see others as simple beasts and savages.

So, when this hot war begins, I will assume you won't be a hypocrite and ask violent, murderous blacks for help - despite their trade. Or, are you willing to give "the lot" of black people you know the benefit of the doubt - because you [think] you know them?

If you are going to be, be all the way - don't be a hypocrite or denier of sensitive views you exude. Own it.

I said exactly what I meant. I don't even know what you are talking about, but I will search it and further express my opinion once I have the deets.

And, notice I said prejudice (pre-judging,) as opposed to racism. They are two separate entities.

I said "racism does not exist in 2015 sarcastically, because anyone who has been aware of criticism of Obama should know there are racist undertones to most of the insults (i.e. the "welfare president.)

Why is that racist? He is called that because welfare has increased so much under him.

America Turns To Welfare As Obamanomics Rots The Economy - Investors.com

No, I insinuated that we don't know if he gave his life to God at those last minutes before his death. Many people judged him for his past actions, which is ridiculous if you are a Christian. They justify his past as a reason for him to have died. It is hypocrisy.

Even the thief next to Christ expressed his remorse and repentance at the last seconds, and Christ blessed him. As long as you have life you are redeemable; humans judge otherwise, and attach past with present. Oil and vinegar. The fact that Christian icons are calling a dead person names, and defaming the dead is a hypocritical gesture.

And, we're you there that night? It was dark, and witness testimony even confirmed cries of help - yet the omnipotent media claimed those cries were from Zimmerman. Dismissing even all of that, we're you there that night? We're you a witness to the event?

No, but there was a witness, who could tell Martin was on top. Martin's past was only brought up because the press and others painted him as such an innocent victim to the point of adulation. The response to correct that image is not necessarily defaming the dead or hypocritical. Defaming implies lying or slander, and that wasn't the case.

Black people are still being hanged and killed for their race. It IS a serious issue that people who aren't familiar with want to paint as whining and complaining, or some other weak modifier of personality attributed to these ethnics.

And whites are killed for their race also. It works both ways.

You can't see how Paul would be executed today, but you agree Garner, Brown and Martin deserved what they got? Paul killed Christians. He would be hated alone on that fact. Look at how the world sees Muslims, despite the fact that all Muslims are not terrorists. Ignorant people have even attacked SIKHS! If Paul happened to be a bit tan from Grecian travel, then the hatred and call for "justice" would be abundant beyond his death. If people do it to the least of folk, surely they would do it to Paul - and even Christ (for example, movies portraying Christ as a black man have been tosses vis a vis "The Second Coming" with Blair Underwood as Christ.)

If Paul came on these forums and said the Sabbath should be worshiped, he would experience DDOS, HAX and pwnage beyond belief.

You say it is ridiculous because you have hindsight on who Paul was. Do you think Paul's stones (rock throwers) had that hindsight? No, they beat him down because of his message just like the other disciples.

I never said they DESERVED what they got, and don't know anyone else who did. But if you attack someone else, or resist arrest, you better be prepared for the consequences. If blacks are raising their kids to respect police and be careful around them, they seem to be doing a dirt poor job of it.

Paul WAS hated for killing Christians, that's nothing new. And he certainly wouldn't be saying the Sabbath should be worshiped. I don't know what "DDOS, HAX and pwnage beyond belief " is, but does it happen to 7th Day Adventists?

I'm sure Paul WAS tanned from all his travels, so what you say seems totally contrived. Color of skin is not an issue I'm aware of anywhere in the Bible. And there are definitely black Saints in the Orthodox Church.

The truth is parents of visibly ethnic children have to raise their kids in a duality of worlds. That just is - evident by worldly implications. You don't have to agree with me at all - that is one of the points of why we have to raise our children with multifaceted psychologist. To survive.

So you say. Like I said, I know lots of blacks who don't seem to suffer all this horrible injustice. The truth is, life has hardships of one kind or another for everyone, and to think you are so different and put upon while no one else is just isn't true. Good friends of mine have adopted 2 black children, and I am the godmother of one of them, and they are not in the situation you claim is so universal. But that is not to say they don't have other problems.

America Turns To Welfare As Obamanomics Rots The Economy - Investors.com

You do realize white people outnumber black people 7:1, right? Welfare reflects that; there are much more white people on welfare than blacks. Well, actually not really; the amount of whites on welfare is about equal to the percentage of blacks - out of all recepients. Seems like whites toss more than "tan" people aside. You would think with all the judgment on other races whites would have a marginal percentage of welfare recipients - since they are founded on such a sturdy soapbox.

The fact that Obama's ethnicity as 100% as much white as he is black is conveniently overlooked - because of his skin color. A perfect model of American politics and society. Judge a book only by its cover - then attach the details necessary to substantiate that judgment.

But, were you there? Otherwise, you are repeating what you have heard. I once met Dr. Who on my way to Saturn. Prove me wrong.

And, how would you know if it wasn't slander - THE KID IS DEAD. This is what I am talking about - the real savage dehumanizing rationale of talking about dead people who can't defend their own character. And, were you THERE?

The press constantly showed Facebook photos of him, and tells from people who knew him, supposedly. The media did exactly what it's jobs was - to divide without intellectual thought. The fact that you defend speaking about a dead person who can't defend themselves is ludicrous.

As I said, even Christ blessed the thief next to Him, and He judged him for his testimony at the moment - Christ did not demand to know his past history, how many times he stole, or what he ate for breakfast. He judged his heart right then, and knew him intimately.

If Christ posted on Christianforums, I would be inclined to think he would receive several warnings, and eventually banned. It is incredible what you are defending.

And whites are killed for their race also. It works both ways.

Except the "work" is not applied equally. As I said, don't act like you don't know. Walk to your local college campus, and tell an anthropology, sociology or political science center professor "black people are on even footing with whites over all spectra."

Record their hysterical laughter.

Post it here.

I never said they DESERVED what they got, and don't know anyone else who did. But if you attack someone else, or resist arrest, you better be prepared for the consequences. If blacks are raising their kids to respect police and be careful around them, they seem to be doing a dirt poor job of it.

Dehumanizing the public, as I said - with the supplement of prejudiced and bigoted stereotypes. To you, consequences you have accepted include choking a man to death on camera while he gasps that he can't breathe.

And, thank you for highlighting my point with the is last sentence. You don't know how subtlety justified that statement was - I am sure others do, though.

Paul WAS hated for killing Christians, that's nothing new. And he certainly wouldn't be saying the Sabbath should be worshiped. I don't know what "DDOS, HAX and pwnage beyond belief " is, but does it happen to 7th Day Adventists?

With hindsight, as I told you, you would not damn Paul. He is a champion of faith taught in most all cburches. But, if you were in Greece around 40AD, that would be a different story.

You never know when you entertain angels, and your mentality clearly sets a limit on who can be an angel. You can't even consider that someone give their life over to Christ at the last moment (and therefore, judgment is ludicrous.) The narrative instructs you to do the contrary.

I'm sure Paul WAS tanned from all his travels, so what you say seems totally contrived. Color of skin is not an issue I'm aware of anywhere in the Bible. And there are definitely black Saints in the Orthodox Church.

Tell that to Antebellum America, and the people that think blacks are "more violent, savage, murderous, criminals" that color doesn't matter. It shouldn't matter, because this is a human issue. But, it does. To deny that is to be ignorant.

So you say. Like I said, I know lots of blacks who don't seem to suffer all this
horrible injustice.

Quit the act. Numerate the number of "lots of blacks" you know, then divide that number over 35,000,000 - and then present the percentage in decimal form. Don't act like you are an ambassador of black people because you know a few. You sound like the people who think they aren't racist or prejudice because they have a friend that is black. Very cliche, dearie.

The truth is, life has hardships of one kind or another for everyone, and to think you are so different and put upon while no one else is just isn't true.

That isn't truth at all. If reincarnation just so happens to be real, I hope you are reborn as a black female from the South, with all of your previous intellect of your former life. Then, once you compare that experience you can talk about what is true or not. Dismissal is a tool used by many people to subjugate ethnics. In one breath they are chastised, and in another they are pitied as poor bastards. Outstanding revamp of history on your part.

Good friends of mine have adopted 2 black children,

Adopted...

and I am the godmother of one of them, and they are not in the situation you claim is so universal. But that is not to say they don't have other problems.

I have never been stopped by cops except once for speeding. I have never been to jail. I have no record. My credit score is 780, I am employed, I graduated from a top university in science, I am a martial artist, I can cook, I am neat and clean, I speak with a cosmopolitan accent - when I am not speaking spanish, french, japanese, patois or german (languages which I can speak and/or understand.)

I can build a computer from scratch. My parents were married when they had me; I was not a bastard. My parents are scientists also. My family is full of nuclear - in tact members, with spans from police officers to decorated military, to more scientists. I run a five minute mile, I bench press 400lbs, I read and speak Hebrew, Greek, Latin languages (thanks, in part to my science background.) I am actually very serious about everything I just said.

Yet, I am not a social invalid campaigning sympathy from bleeding hearts for folly I have committed. So, what does you being the godmother of adopted black children have to trump the aunts and mothers in my family that have had children with similar resumes as mine, yet they have been met with demise and judgment? What are you going to tell your god children to prepare them for this world that sees their skin color, and automatically associates them with "violent, oversexualized, ignorant, hateful, murderous, savage beasts?"

After all, I have been pretty much "kept" in my life, yet I would never insinuate my fortune is something all blacks universally share. Alas, I am arguing against that idiotic notion. I have been profiled, despite my pedigree. I have been falsely blamed for egregious actions - despite my philosophical passivity and cynicism. I have been called a n*goer - despite my ability to articulate myself. I have been threatened with death - even remember incidents where I was choked and gasping "I can't breathe." (Funny how that is the last thing you say before you are about to suffocate to death.) I have been scapegoated as angry, dark and irrational - despite my actual ethnicity and demeanor.

So, save that for someone else, and teach your god children something about this very world that is so quick to damn people for minute things while claiming a faith of forgiveness. As I said, I have gone into Neiman's and actually witnessed white persons stealing while the clerk is so focused on what I am doing - despite having $1500 in my personal checking account - itching to spend money. Oh, that is another thing: I am not on welfare; I have bank accounts (plural.)

I am an individual, not representative of a race. Yet, i am constantly judged by my perceived race. And, I am not ignorant in that I believe my life is commonplace for any ethnic group in America browned than a grocery paper bag. I don't lie to myself about that. So, it is a complete and utter disgraceful slap in the face to hear things like what you have said - because it reminds me everyday how I will have to raise my kids under duality - should I choose to have kids. I am sure you will agree I shouldn't reproduce myself, and I actually have no plans of bringing a child into this world - ever.

My legacy will die with me. I would never bring a child into this planet. Ever. So, take solace in that, dearie. You won't find another one of me to scourge resources and feed off of a "welfare system," as the narrative goes.

This entire happening is a human issue. But, now I see it is only a human issue for those who are perceived to be human...

And, you lump me in that category.

Yes it is a human issue, but it is constantly being turned into a racial one. No they aren't gods, no one said they were.

Because people allow it to be turned into a racist issue. Weak-minded, self-serving people.

You are being had if you think there is a difference in behavior between ethnicities. All ethnicities steal, all ethnicities lie, cheat, murder, commit adultery, exploit, revile and judge. It is a weak mind to associate these human behaviors with a certain ethnic group for the benefit of exhaling one's own ethnicity (or tearing down of others.)

Weak.

So you're saying that blacks in prison are put there with no evidence against them and are totally framed?

Believe it, dearie. Truth is stranger than self-serving prejudiced fiction.

And, you have a serious problem with numeration. I did not claim all black people in jail are innocent - ever.

So, don't twist MY words, or we can play this tit for tat game like children - and I promise I am better at it than you.

I am a literal insomniac with ADHD; I have plenty of time and hyperfocus.

You are the one who claimed the smaller minority status, don't twist my words. And I'm sorry that so many blacks do succumb to executing the stereotypes that they supposedly fight against every day. How is that my fault?

It is your fault for weaseling out of what you said, and acting like you were merely speaking truth instead of over inflated rhetoric that screams "pre-judgment, with no apologies." You and mentalities like you feed the problem. And, I didn't twist your words; I said AND quoted exactly what I meant. You act like what you have already said wasn't egregious enough. I don't need to twist anything you say; you do it yourself, dearie.

Aah, that explains your attitude, the academic race baiting propaganda.

Right. If I am not a thug, I am an overly intellectualized race-baiter. I mean, I have to fit in one of these American categories, right? GOD forbid I be an individual, with an individual thought process.

Yes, sadly history is repeated over and over, in many more ways than race.

And, yet all you can do is add fuel to the conflagration.

And of course I know who started PP and why. Progressives, who are now today's Democrats. Which is why it is such a mystery why blacks support the party which encourages their own genocide.

Maybe it is a mystery because you assume so much about an ethnic group you clearly know nothing about - besides godchildren.

And, your confusion would subside a bit if you stop your insipid assumptions. Africans a have sold other Africans into slavery, but no one told your "founding fathers" to rape, murder, torture, beat, castrate, brutalize, and obliterate the slaves. See now you are showing your collar, and I shall show my bones.

I am not a democrat. I am not a republican. I am not a libertarian. Oh no! What category shall I be boxed in, then?

What media quotes have I regurgitated? I notice that you answer very few of my questions, yet I am the one without actual knowledge!

Everything you say - as ignorant as it is - sounds like Rupert Murdoch is your adviser, and Fox News is in constant stream in your ear.

And, quite frankly, dearie, you have a numeration problem anyway - what with the "lots" of black people you know, the "plethora" of exposure to ethnic culture, especially black and Latino culture, and your "myriad" of anecdotal evidences to substantiate yourself. (Quotations are my emphasis on your exaggerated numeration.)

By your hyperbolic logic, me answering very few of your questions means I answered most of them.

I didn't say you were stupid, by the way. I said you were ignorant.

Wow! as long as people can rant like Cryofalion I suppose racism will be alive and well; one just wants to overreact to such a stream. But I can remind myself he's just one person and his anger issues could be from any number of causes.

Police do overreact, to be sure. But I have yet to see an incidence where a person was just standing around doing absolutely nothing. There was SOMETHING that warranted an action from the cops and the cops overreacted in some of them.

The women delivering newspapers were doing absolutely nothing yet were fired on by police who failed to observe a threat or identify a target.

Then there was this guy:
Police Commission overrules chief, says LAPD shooting was wrong - Los Angeles Times

Honestly, if you haven't seen an incidence like this, you're either not looking or your standards for police conduct are so low as to be absurd.

Yes, instead of addressing what was posed to you as an adult, you use ad hominem to substantiate yourself, and your arguments.

Sophomoric, but exceptionally so as you use the emotive buzzwords such as anger, and psychologically connotative nomenclature like "issues," and "rant." My personal confidence is still very much in tact, even more so after this post you made.

Your last post, as was shown, is not racist - unless you consider "blue" - as in cops - a race. And, when you were confronted with that, you post this.

All I can do is shake my head and laugh.

Actually, none of it is racist. This is what happens when people have no denotative base to extrapolate onto words. You don't get to claim whatever you want as racist; that is not how sociology and socioeconomic work.

Even if you consider cops a race, racism implies a power of subjugation - not hurt feelings or insults.

And, you are wowed by my rants, yet you say more about yourself in three lines than I do in 30 lines.

Thanks for proving my point that "welfare president" isn't racist.

As I said, even Christ blessed the thief next to Him, and He judged him for his testimony at the moment - Christ did not demand to know his past history, how many times he stole, or what he ate for breakfast. He judged his heart right then, and knew him intimately.

Yes, just as he did with Trayvon Martin. I never said how Christ would judge him. So what is your point?

If Christ posted on Christianforums, I would be inclined to think he would receive several warnings, and eventually banned. It is incredible what you are defending.

Just what is it I am defending exactly? Never mind, don't bother.

Except the "work" is not applied equally. As I said, don't act like you don't know. Walk to your local college campus, and tell an anthropology, sociology or political science center professor "black people are on even footing with whites over all spectra."

Record their hysterical laughter.

Post it here.

Again, thanks for proving my point.

Dehumanizing the public, as I said - with the supplement of prejudiced and bigoted stereotypes. To you, consequences you have accepted include choking a man to death on camera while he gasps that he can't breathe.

Except he wasn't choked to death. He wasn't murdered. Was his death horrible, tragic, and preventable? Yes. He should have gotten medical attention much quicker. But your refusal to stick to facts gets in the way of any discussion.

With hindsight, as I told you, you would not damn Paul. He is a champion of faith taught in most all cburches. But, if you were in Greece around 40AD, that would be a different story.

Since I am currently a member of the church that Paul was founding, I really doubt that. But somehow your massive intellect and education give you such hidden vast knowledge about the past that you alone know the truth.

You never know when you entertain angels, and your mentality clearly sets a limit on who can be an angel. You can't even consider that someone give their life over to Christ at the last moment (and therefore, judgment is ludicrous.) The narrative instructs you to do the contrary.

Not at all true, and yes, the correct word is ranting. Your condescension and arrogance are getting very stale.

Tell that to Antebellum America, and the people that think blacks are "more violent, savage, murderous, criminals" that color doesn't matter. It shouldn't matter, because this is a human issue. But, it does. To deny that is to be ignorant.

Whatever. Antebellum America is long gone.

And yet you, dearie claim to speak for all blacks throughout all history. Very hypocritical. Since no one but you can have an opinion on the matter, and none of our experiences count, continuing the conversation is obviously a waste of time.

Adopted...

So? Not qualified to speak on the matter, according to you?

I think this is always such a difficult discussion, mostly because so many different things get thrown into the pile (and then there're stereotypes and prejudices). I believe the first thing that needs to be done is to unravel all the good from the bad. Like the comedian Kevin Hart said, "Not all cops are bad. Not all black people are criminals. Not all white people are racist. Stop labeling. It's 2014 let's get equal".

There are lots of negative things that are contributing---things that haven't been mentioned, like the rap music and movies that glorify the war between law enforcement and criminals (making the police out to be the "enemy"). Why is that legal? There are FB groups with names like "Kill the Cops". I don't see that as "free speech"---it's inciting hatred (even murder).

There was a social experiment attempted years ago, called the Stanford Prison experiment. It seems like that has become a reality playing out (the Lucifer effect) .

The rioters shouldn't be mixed in with the peaceful protesters.....civic leaders that point out that people are not being treated equally shouldn't be shunned---the problems they mention should be addressed, not ignored. It's not people that are the problem.......it's mindsets (and those can be changed).

Police do overreact, to be sure. But I have yet to see an incidence where a person was just standing around doing absolutely nothing. There was SOMETHING that warranted an action from the cops and the cops overreacted in some of them. It's kinda like how we tell people not to walk on train tracks. When they walk on them, they MIGHT get lucky and not get run over by a train. But when they walk on them and get hit by the train, we don't blame the train.

I didn't really want to post this in this thread, as i don't want to conflate bringing attention to abuses of power by the police and tolerating violence against police.

This post (mine) shows a situation where there is clear evidence of the police's "overreaction" to extend to not only the first person, but the entire family of that person. I included follow up for the event, in terms of repercussions for the officers and the family affected.

http://www.christianforums.com/t7855960-17/#post66845530

The original video can be seen here, which captures the initial abuse of the police officer levied against a person who doesn't want his car towed (does not engage in any physical resisting, and is clearly assaulted by the officer), his brother who was "guilty" of filming his brother being assaulted, and their family, as the brother retreats into his house. Over 20 police storm the house (without any sort of warrant) in pursuit of the brother, whose only "crime" was videotaping the officers arresting and abusing his brother (videotaping is not a crim). Not only do the police storm the house and illegally confiscate and destroy the video evidence, but they seriously injure their aunt who was in the house in a wheelchair (threw her from her chair and repeatedly struck her).

This isn't "one bad cop". It is a clearly corrupt precinct, in which over 20 officers were involved in not only committing violence against citizens, but a cover up. The ramifications? 6 police officers lost their jobs. This bears repeating - at least 20 officers (one article cites 32 officers on the scene) were complicit in illegal entering and confiscation of evidence, some assaulted citizens, to boot, and 6 - six - of them face repercussions.

If it wasn't for the additional video of a neighbor across the street, there would have been no consequence for the police, the 3 brothers would have been found guilty of the charges against them (false charges), and the aunt would still be injured (lawsuit pending to have compensation for the injuries she sustained).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fg5T4AZb7o4

I don't see how there's any defense for this action, as either "the police were justified" or "it was just one bad cop" - it was unjustifiable, and it was over 20 officers involved.

This is a point I was trying to make. Just because there's some wrongs on one side doesn't ever justify brutal wrong-doing on the other side (and there shouldn't even be "sides" to begin with). That was one good point made in the video by Sergeant Dakota Meyer.

I agree with most of what Sergeant Meyer said, and i would like to expand on it.

While he rightly categorized Sharpton as "a divider", virtually all of our nationally elected officials are dividers, and the political environment is centered around division. While there are a number of issues that should be clear, non-partisan issues (corrpution, waste, and incompetence in government), loyalists on both sides dismiss their own representatives flaws, and focus on any trivial detail of those of the opposition. Politicians, and the mainstream media networks feed this "us vs. them" narrative, and consistently focus on divisive issues, while virtually ignoring issues that should be of concern to all of us.

You don't have to look very far in the political forums here to see that divide clear as day, and witness the lack of consistency by party/ideology loyalists.

While i agree with the message of standing united, the reality is that there is a chorus of dividers that makes drowns out that message through volume and repetition.

Nothing is ever clear. There's still a good chunk of that video missing.

There is a claim of police brutality.
There is a claim that Octavius was argumentative and aggressive.

The videos don't prove either statement correct.

And my point still stands. There WAS a legal issue here regarding someone's car. Unfortunately, most of the links for this story have conflicting reports as to what the issue was, whether it was parking tickets or expired tags.

As to why in the blazes they needed 32 cops there, I honestly can't answer that. That is definitely overkill and I guess it was a slow day in the precinct.

NOTE: I am not excusing the behavior exhibited in the video. But it doesn't really address the notion that people are just getting beat up when they're not doing anything. Cops don't just show up somewhere and decide they're going to go to a beat-down.
