Genesis 1:1 - Genesis 2:e is the "quick overview of the entirety of creation."

Genesis 2:4 until the end of the world is the ACTUAL story.

Genesis 1:1 - Genesis 2:3 would be like the rolling intro text screen of a Star Wars film. Genesis 2:4 onward is the actual movie. .

Now, imagine that the intro text read:

Princess Leia is hurrying home,
carrying that plans to the Death Star...
And then the first line of the movie is:

Leia:
We must find the plans to the Death Star before the Empire does, or we're doomed!

Wouldn't you say, "Hang on, I thought the intro said she already had the plans!"

Is this your example of a frame story, or did you mean it to be a contradiction?

Would be "like" Star Wars - except the rolling screen is the overview of the entirety of creation. Genesis 2:4 onward is that story in detail (including the life we are living now.)

There is one creation.

So, what exactly is the objection to there being two different ancient accounts of creation being included in Genesis (by Moses , if you like)?
Are you asking me?

It has lead to dangerously misleading doctrine - like certain races being made on the 6th day, and then the Hebrews made specially on the 8th.

Generally, the two creation story is about a two-humanity.

So our interpretation of scripture is supposed to be determined by the doctrine we want it to reveal?

Who holds to that doctrine, exactly? Because I've come across a lot of weird things over the years, but that's a new one.

Oh my...

The "sixth day man/eighth day Ademic race" argument is extremely popular. The belief is God made all the other races, and then made the Ademic race on the 8th day to be a set apart people. Essentially, all ethnic peoples were 6th day creation, and the "Jews" were the 8th day creation.

No, it is supposed to be determined by the truth.

Adam was the first male. This is reiterated in the New Testament. There was no 6th day, and then 8th day creation.

My question is how that heterodox "8th day creation" arises from assuming two different creation accounts. Neither one describes any creation on an eighth day. One would have to make the egregious assumption that the two accounts were meant to be taken serially in order to arrive at such a foolish notion.

People adopt various weird theories in order to reconcile the two accounts. They then announce contrary to the literal reading that all discrepancies have been resolved. They might as well use the same imagination to reconcile them with the findings of science, it would not be any harder than to do what they do. And the findings of science have the advantage of being consistent with the evidence, including new evidence as it comes along.

I know.

Like calling it a "frame story."

Isn't that about the weirdest you've ever heard!?

It's almost like I made that term up, isn't it?

Incidentally, how do you reconcile them?
