What's the facination about twitter?
I signed up to see what the fuss is all about.....doesn't seem so great.....
I mean...is it just status updates?

everyone gets to know when you are doin stuff. Like if you are eating spagettii you need to register your actions and thoughts about it throughout the world.

Yea like fb but without the communication. Why would I want to just go online to let the whole world what I was doing at that moment? ANd a bigger question...who else would really care? I mean....they dont know me. lol

I've heard radio programs say that you can "twitter" questions and comments while listening to the live shows and interviews (like people already do with email). So, what does a status update have to do with listening to a talk show?

Yeah, me too! It's pretty much just status updates. I haven't checked it for ages.

I think in the past they used to send the updates to your phone as texts, but then it cost too much so they stopped it. But you can still update your own status by texting.

I just signed up with Twitter the other day, figuring I'd see what all the fuss was about. And I don't get it. It looks like you can't even put any information about yourself on your profile! I'm think I'm just going to stick to good ol' Facebook.

I signed a couple weeks ago and now all I hear about from others is about twitter, yet I've only got one friend in Japan following. He likes how it goes to his IMphone, he's got it in Japanese too.....I'm already boored. I think its for a younger crowd that likes to know what others are doing all the time and have it on their mobiles.

I assume it's international but it's apparently more popular in the US than anywhere (?). I signed up cuz a friend sent me a link but I don't see what all the excitement is. Like everyone else here said...you just type in updates about yourself....yaaaaaaaaaaaaawn....

Let's see....today I worked 9 hours, took a nap, sort of watched the Cubs lose (AGAIN!!?!?!?!) and now I'm thinking about getting something to eat....whoo hoo....there...I said all that in one message without having to learn another password! hahahaha

I quite honestly cannot fathom under what circumstance anyone would be remotely interested in updates concerning me, despite my editor's suggestion that I try it.

The only possible legitimized use I've heard for it is to follow and communicate with indy bands. I have a friend who uses Twitter to see where in the city they're going to be playing on certain nights, and communicate with them to meet up with them after shows.

But for "normal" people...yeah I don't get it. I really really don't need to know what my friends are doing every second of every day. Oh and that video is hilarious!!

I got into it because artisans were using it to sell stuff. I've gotten quite a bit of visibility from it.
