The vast majority of humans also aren't born with blue eyes or a genius IQ. Doesn't make them bad or undesirable.

Uh oh. I'm gay and have blue eyes. Thank god I'm not a genius or left-handed. That'd be 3 strikes. :o

Have you sold your TV?
Or disconnected it so as to not to receive broadcasts, even via antenna with a converter box attached to the unit?

25 to 30 years ago we didn't see stuff like we see now. The pushing
of homosexuality in almost every TV sitcom. I won't watch them
just for this reason.

There is an agenda, don't kid yourself. The big shots up top
want to dumb down and degrade society, and are doing a
heck of a job.

I don't hate and won't judge anyone personally. What people
do in their own homes is their business. I just don't like the
fact they are putting gays on TV where kids will see them.
And that's what they probably want. To confuse them, as
we know the adolescent years are some of the toughest
years of our lives.

There are a lot of psychological downsides from homosexuality, ranging from the belief that one is destined for hellfire due to his/her cultures religion, to feeling of isolation from ones family. Additionally there are feelings less caused by society such as the feeling that one is unable to have natural children with the person one loves, and the knowledge that ones sexuality is vastly different from the general populaces and the higher difficulty of finding a partner is of note.

I personally feel the argument 'There are psychological difficulties with sexuality X, so X is bad' is a horrible one, but if you must use it, you can't only selectively chose to use it against sexuality you personally disapprove of while ignoring it on those you don't.

Oh no, you mistake me. It's not merely the emergence of "psychological difficulties" but rather the ability of one person to use their position of authority outside of the sexual relationship to damage or abuse the other person in the relationship. This is the common reason for the ethics behind avoiding a therapist/patient, parent/child, teacher/student sexual relationship. For certain, "psychological difficulties" would be present in nearly every type of relationship....sexual or otherwise.

I should consider this in the future perhaps? They don't call it
the idiot or boob tube for nothing you know.

I'll only watch educational shows, some NHL hockey and
a good movie when it comes on AMC. Sitcoms were a lot
less vulgar, and a lot funnier some twenty to thirty years
ago.

The writers don't have to actually use their imaginations anymore.
A lot of vulgarity here, and some perversion over there. They gotta
sitcom!:o

Your television has an "off" switch, does it not?

Yes it does. It still bothers me the stuff that's on it. If you have
kids, would you want them watching two men beat the living
crap out of each other? Witnessing two men doing something
intimate together? Or two women?

There's a lot of people that don't want to follow rules the
Bible sets out. Is it they don't truly believe, or is it they
don't want to believe so they can justify living a sinful
life?

There is a lot of unwholesomeness being shown on TV. The
dumbing down of the western world is at hand.

I dislike that so many Christians feel this way. There are many of us who simply don't believe what you believe. Why is that such a problem?

I'll try to keep the violence off the TV until the preteen years (teen years for the more hardcore stuff). Whether or not a certain sexual scene is allowed on the TV will be determined by the ages of the characters, their level of responsibility, and what base they're on. ^_^

The dumbing down of the western world is at hand.

There is dumbing down of television, but that has far more to do with formulaic television (especially "family friendly" television) than anything to do with sexuality.

No.

Why not?

But more importantly, I have books, movies and other media that I wouldn´t want kids to read or watch. I don´t think "kid-compatible" should be the criteria for what´s available. After all, these kids have parents who are responsible for selecting what their kids should watch.
You still pretend you don´t know where the off-switch of your TV is.

Yeah, the sky is falling - a phenomenon common to pretty much all eras.

You conveniently left out option 3: They disagree with you on what exactly those rules are, because they are smart enough to know the Bible wasn't written in 21st Century English.

The
dumbing down of the western world is at hand.
The lowest IQ states in the country are the most religious. Just saying...

We prefer the terms homosexual, gay, queer. You can leave "homophile" at the door.

Also, if you don't like watching TV, don't watch it. "Duh."

^_^
You'll notice, everyone, that my point went conveniently unaddressed.

Please don't say things like this. It plays right into the hands of those who DO think it was written in King James English.

eudaimonia,

And the emergence of improved special effects and picture quality.

Back when the picture (and for that matter sound) quality were lower there had to be some story to carry things. Now pretty or gory can carry a show very easily.

Does your TV have an "on" and "off" button? How about "+" or "-" for channels? Mine has both! :)
I think it's been years since I've used the buttons on a TV. ^_^ Our TVs just have tiny little ones on the side in case we lose the remote.
