Anybody enjoy TBS games? They never seem to lose their appeal over time. ATM I'm playing Alpha Centauri, but I can crack out my old copy of Master of Orion (yes, the very first one) and still enjoy it. We're talking a DOS game with 320*200 res (fullscreen) and bleep-bloop sounds...

(^ That was strectched over the entire screen. The ships are nothing more than a few coloured pixels :D.)

Classic...

I love turn-based games. I still have Space Pirates II on my old computer, and I play that quite often. The only problem is, my computer freezes up during it. I also have the original Colonization but, again, my computer freezes up during it.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance just plain awesome. I loved that game. I've heard Final Fantasy Tactics is even better, but I've yet to play it.

I love turn-based-strategy. Had the entire Panzer General series. Have played almost the entire Civ series (only excluding SMAC). I'm currently into Civ3. I just picked up a copy of MOO3 because I heard so much about it and it was cheap ($5!). YUCK! No thanks. The redone Reach for the Stars is WAY more fun (if not a little buggy)!

I agree this is a good space TBS. Stardock did a great job updating this game to make it better (over a year of support).
I like total war game as well but not a true TBS since it would fall a little short without the RTS battles.

I can't believe how many hours I lost playing Civ 1+2. I'm starting to tinker around with FreeCiv a bit on SuSE but I haven't played enough to mention it. I liked Rising Sun when I tried it a few years ago. I haven't thought of playing a good TBS game lately. I need to do that.

Wow, people have heard of Heroes. Heroes 4, the latest Heroes, failed to improve much, and the graphics were done a little too cartoon style. Although I really did like the inclusion of the actual 'heroes' into the fights. Heroes 4 wasn't balanced the greatest either, but it wasn't as bad as it seems on first glance, a lot of the balancing issues disappear as you get better at the game, some races were just easier to learn, and others required careful attention. Equilibris, a free mod for HOMM4, helps a lot too!

The Civilization games are very good. My tops probably don't fall under this category. They would probably fall under Strategy Role Playing or something like that.

My favorites are:

1) Final Fantasy Tactics
2) Disgaea: Hour of Darkness
3) Final Fantasy Tactics Advance

I love electronic TBS games.

What REALLY floats my proverbial boat is Warhammer 40k. Anybody here play?
I played a demo for it once and really enjoyed it but I never got the game. That might be a good one to start back with! Thanks.
