Since it's entirely God's grace that saves us, I suppose it's possible to be saved and not understand any of the gospel--intellectually speaking. I believe children who die in childhood are always saved

It's entirely upon the mercy of God to save any one of us. Yes, understanding the gospel is not a requirement for salvation. Thank God for that! A lot of people in general can't read nor speak..some are even blind and deaf. Little children need mercy too. If they're are one of the chosen elect people of God then they will be saved but if they're not..then no they'll die as an unsaved person just like a full grown adult would die as an unsaved individual.

Check out Soveriegn Grace Ministries some time - they are reformed and Charismatic. I've never seen a church employ the gifts according to 1 Corninthians the way these guys do. I wish I lived near one so that I could I go regularly. Some pastors associated with them are C. J. Mahaney and Joshua Harris.

Think you catch heat from pentacostal churches for being Calvinist? - you should see some Calvinist churches respond to those of us who claim to be Calvinist and Charismatic at the same time!

That's unfortunate. I do not consider myself a charismatic but I esteem people like Wayne Grudem a great deal and I think sometimes that my cessationist brethren are a bit too stubborn and unloving.

We had this discussion recently in another thread and I still can't get away from thinking that most of us were granted faith in a non- or marginally Calvinist church environment. Some of us had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into the truth.

too true bro , my old Pastor used to love preaching Once Saved always saved to the consternation of a few free-willers , he seemed to preach it every other week with glee ... and I later found a Elder also had Calvinist leanings but all very low key , I went around to his house once and was impressed to see Bekhof's sytematic theology on his shelf , he became an Elim pentecostal minister like my old pastor ...

after discovering the doctrines of Grace i made an effort to find a Calvinist Church ...

Yeah, I agree with this.

I was born again in a Southern Baptist church, so it was, well, very marginally Calvinist. I had no idea what Calvinism was at the time but looking back on it, they basically accepted the P of TULIP and that was about it, and they interpreted that as "OSAS". But it was there that I was taught the error of much of my religion to that point and to trust entirely upon Jesus for my salvation and to look only to the Bible for lasting truth.

Others have had to come even further, I know.

So I guess what I am saying is: how can it be that non-Calvinists are not saved, if so many (most?) of us were saved as non-Calvinists?

I will say this though: anyone who hears the Gospel, in its fullness, and persists in rejecting it because he objects to a God who would save him in spite of himself, is in very deep trouble. And in cases where this persistence endures unto death, are we not a little justified in doubting that such a one could even be elect?
