I am trying to quit but I am having a very hard time at it I usually smoke when my nerves get bad and here lately everything has been going bad for me

The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Praying for you. It is hard but with thed Lord by your side you can achieve anything - trust me I am coming up to 3 months! If you ever need any help just PM me and keep us posted on how it us going - even of it isn't going well as I have found out support is the biggest key to success. God bless, Evie

I am praying for you also. I quit 3 and 1/2 years ago and it was the hardest thing that I ever had to do in my life but it is possible. With God's help you can do anything...Just don't give up on quitting...Keep on striving towards that day you will be smoke-free.....God bless......

Cold Turkey for me but that doesn't mean that it will work for everyone. If you read a lot of the messages in this forum you will find a lot of people did it different ways. You have to really find the way that works for you. That's why usually it takes a lot of attempts before you quit for good! I liked cold turkey because I have an addicitive personality (ie I get addicted to things easily) so I didn't want to swap one addiction for another! God bless, Evie
