i have been a believe for 6 years now and this whole time i have been struggling with depression and social isolation and other mental problems... i am really sick of this darkness. i have been through sooooooooo much with God in the past 6 years but I'm still having demon problems and just can't seem to find the root cause...

I've gotten a lot of healing and deliverance, praise God, but there's still so much junk from my childhood and from other past experiences that I just can't seem to get delivered of.

I have been struggling for a long time too but just remember that you are loved and Jesus is our Lord and Savior and He is with us. God bless you and Jesus is Lord.

When I was a young adult, I experienced some depression. Several times I sought counseling, and that helped. I think what helped the most, though, was allowing the Lord to make changes in my life. I needed to repent of sins I was committing. Another thing that is helpful is my church. My church isn't perfect, but it has provided me with a lot of support through the years.

It's hard to go through tough times alone. Do you have anyone or attend Church? I know it's hard to see the good through the constant bad, but God is preparing you for something GREAT!

The struggles we face now will teach us and make us stronger for the future. You can't see the big picture because you are a part of the picture, but God promises it's all for His glory.

Is there any way you can attend counseling or a support group of some kind? When things are too much for one to handle, it's ok to get help, but you if you wanted all results, it will have to be help from someone with the ability to cater to your exact psychological needs. Depression is a real disease that is so hard to battle alone. Try to look into some sort of support system that you can depend on.

Prayers going your way!!!

Father, obviously something is missing in Williambo's life, or he has been focusing on the wrong things instead of the right things. The spiritual light has "not come on" to set him free from that which enslaves him and brings him down. You provide all that we need, so he must not be focusing on or using what has been provided. I pray that You will guide him to the light by which he may see what is needed. The answer is in Your written Word. May he be led to read it, and understand that which he needs to understand. Amen.

Thank you guys. Thanks Greg M. I was having a panic attack basically when I wrote this thread... I have been getting free of so much but there's still so much I'm struggling with. I guess God heals us in layers like an onion.

Hi WilliamBo - God Bless

Not all problems are Spiritual problems and you may have to sit and think and plan a way out from where you are now. Identify your weaknesses and what you want to be and where you want to go in life. Crippling fear and other mental problems can be down to not having the life skills to venture out and succeed in life. Jesus is a great comfort and strength to draw on but you still have to do the work and put the effort in to sort out your problems. In a way, see it as a bird that has to leave the nest - you really have to learn to spread your wings and fly - job, career , relationships, etc.

I'd get out of bed and start planning your future and do something about it.

Get some self help books and work on your weaknesses. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me....

You might find the book of Proverbs a good start - learn about yourself and other people.

I pray you meet the right people to get you out and actively participating in life and church. Don't turn down opportunities of help and invitations - face it head on and give it all you've got.

Then it may be time to get professional help. The level of depression you are talking about is not something you can fix on the internet.. if it was, there would be no therapists or psychiatrists. They have been trained and they know how to help guide you past this mental mountain of yours.

I am praying for you my Friend.
Psychiatrist---Psychologist

Christians usually want to know how the Bible relates to these professions. The truth is that neither psychology nor psychiatry is wrong in a sinful sense. They both serve valid and helpful purposes. None of the mental health professionals have the ability to fully understand how God made man, how the mind works, why we feel and act the way we do. While there is an abundance of worldly, man-centered theory about mental and emotional issues, there are also many godly people involved in these professions seeking to understand the human mind from a biblical perspective. For Christians, it is best to seek a professional who professes to be a believer, can express knowledge of Scripture, and exhibits godly character. Any counsel we receive must be filtered through Scripture so that, as with everything in the world, we can discern what is true and what is false.

Seeing a psychologist or psychiatrist is not wrong. However, mental health professionals come from many different beliefs and backgrounds. Even Christian psychologists and psychiatrists will be unable to give perfect answers, or they may be weak in some area of their biblical knowledge. Remember that the Word of God is our first answer to all that ails us. Arming ourselves with the truth is essential to discerning what is helpful and what is leading us astray (Ephesians 6:11-17; 1 Corinthians 2:15-16). Every believer is personally responsible for studying the Bible for his own personal growth and discernment. The Holy Spirit will use the Word to transform us into the image of Jesus Christ, which is the ultimate goal for all Christians (Ephesians 5:1-2; Colossians 3:3).

Thanks southernscotty. I've been to therapists in the past and never really got the help I needed. Maybe I could try again now that I got health insurance. I was diagnosed with Asperger's/autism spectrum but I know the problem is largely spiritual, and some emotional.

Do you know people who love the Lord and would frequently welcome your company? Godly companionship can help, big time. Proverbs 27:17; Ecclesiastes 4:9-10; Psalms 133
