But think of the money being made!

While at the same time thinking about the 100,000 and the carbon dioxide they won't be exhaling! The population-control crowd are no doubt thrilled about reaching such a milestone!

I don't think Trump's people are thinking about this very clearly. If the virus comes back, and infections and deaths rise, there will be huge pressure to return to safer policies. I think that in the long run, this will actually be worse for Trump than doing the right thing.

Harm is done either way. These "safer policies" of staying home and closing down the economy is doing harm that isn't measured so conveniently on a map. Deaths come as a result of increased poverty when people have to put off elective surgical procedures that result in worsening medical conditions, suicide from depression, increased drug and alcohol use, etc.

Your denial of the fact that tens of millions are out of work and want the economy reopened and are not "bots", but real people who simply want to earn a living is noted--but not unexpected.

Last I heard somewhere around 80% of those out of work do not wish the economy to reopen.

Polls have consistently shown that the majority of people in the US do not want to relax social distancing guidelines or lift shelter-at-home orders until more is done to combat the effects of Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

Polls: Americans don’t want to end social distancing policies despite financial devastation

Where did I say they were "bots"? They're listening to and obeying bots, but that's different.

Are you saying 40 million people who are unemployed and want to get back to work only want to go back to work because they're listening to "bots"?

Much of that stems from the fact that they are getting more in unemployment money than when they were working. Until that runs out, it's easier to stay home and get more. Of course that can't last forever--even in a socialist economy, which we're getting a taste of.

It's only "population control" if you think of them as actual people...

...if you take the administration's position of seeing them as human capital stock, then it's a minor market correction, nothing more.

No -- I am saying that an unfortunately large number of people are not working because it is hazardous to their health to do so.

You say "40 million," but we can't know the exact numbers, because Donald is afraid the actual numbers will make him look bad... and we can't have that.

You want to go back to work? Fine.

You have skills.

Get to work.

Hard to do that when the workplace is ordered by the governor (a democrat) to stay closed.

Nice try at trying to divert attention back to Trump though.

Can you post a link to any statement where they took that position? Or was your post a product of a fake news bot?

They're getting paid more not to risk their and their family's health... good on them.

Until that runs out, it's easier to stay home and get more. Of course that can't last forever--even in a socialist economy, which we're getting a taste of.

Perhaps if they were paid a little closer to what they were worth, they'd be a bit more eager to get back to work.

But we can't have that, now can we?

Surely you must have at least one essential skill?

According to whom? My wife certainly did not when she was furloughed. However that does not change the fact that the vast majority who are out of work are not calling for the reopening.

It amazes me how we have so much money to bail out businesses but so little to take care of our people.

If they're being bailed out so well, then why are so many going out of business? Why are hair salon owners being put in jail when they try to open up out of desperation if they're getting so much money?

The free market is a harsh mistress.

Why are hair salon owners being put in jail when they try to open up out of desperation if they're getting so much money?

Because if you break the law, you get tossed in a cage -- that's how the criminal justice system works.

Good stock isn't paid to complain; Good stock is paid to follow orders.

And the order is: "Get to work."

The order is "Allow people to work".
Get it right.

Donald's Twitter has a left-wing bias? That's interesting -- he might have to silence himself by executive order.

You obviously didn't see the link I posted.
