It appears that the Trump Campaign is working with the West Campaign in order to beat Joe Biden.

In July, Trump retweeted an article that said Kanye could be trying to siphon Black votes from Biden, writing that it "shouldn't be hard" for West to do.

A government watchdog group on Friday filed a complaint against Lane Ruhland with the Wisconsin Office of Lawyer Regulation (OLR) alleging the attorney has been violating ethics and conflict of interest obligations by working for both the presidential campaigns of both Kanye West and Donald Trump. Ruhland – the former general counsel for the state Republican party and senior counsel at law firm Husch Blackwell – made headlines on Tuesday when a local reporter recorded her hand delivering West’s nominating petitions with state regulators in Madison, Wisconsin. A state GOP spokesperson later confirmed that Ruhland was retained by the West campaign.

But as the complaint filed by the Campaign for Accountability (CfA) pointed out, as of Friday, Ruhland still appeared to be working for President Trump’s re-election campaign. Ruhland’s name appeared on a legal brief filed in Wisconsin federal court on behalf of the Trump campaign as recently as July 27. The docket for that case, a lawsuit against a small Wisconsin television station for airing a commercial produced by Priorities USA, still lists Ruhland and two other attorneys from her firm as legal representatives of the Trump campaign.

A local GOP source tells me this is Lane Ruhland, a top WIGOP election lawyer who was former general counsel for the state party. Ruhland didn't deny it when I called her: "I’m going to leave any comment about the petitions, the papers and what’s going on to the campaign itself."

As a strategic move, it may not be a bad idea...in a winner take all, first-past-the-post, system, if he can do anything that'll split the opposing parties votes, that can only help him.

The Biden campaign could always fire back by paying for ads to draw exposure to Jo Jorgensen's libertarian campaign, which would have a similar effect to the other side. Giving conservatives exposure to her and giving them "a second potential option" would undoubtedly be more likely to negatively impact Trump than Kanye will negatively impact the Democrats.

New documents show Kanye West’s doomed White House campaign—styled as an “independent” third-party effort—appears to have disguised potentially millions of dollars in services it received from a secretive network of Republican Party operatives, including advisers to the GOP elite and a managing partner at one of the top conservative political firms in the country.

Potentially even more alarming? The Kanye 2020 campaign committee did not even report paying some of these advisers, and used an odd abbreviation for another—moves which campaign finance experts say appear designed to mask the association between known GOP operatives and the campaign, and could constitute a violation of federal laws.
